Night out alone...

    Hi all,

I didn't know where else to put this thread so if its in the wronf forum please move accordingly :o

I'm really in the mood for going out tomorrow (Saturday) night but not even one of my mates is heading out so I thought maybe I could go somewhere myself. Take a drive to a town nearby and have a few drinks, go to a club, maybe try to find a nice lady without my friends "constructive criticism" I probably am coming across here as a weirdo or something lol!

I'm just wondering is that a little odd? And if not... can anyone recommend a good town to head out in around the north midlands area?

If you head out to the nearest town, wont their be more chance of meeting people you know? dont think i would head out on my own in a town i didn't know.

Wouldn't you be better off putting this on a dating site , they would be on it like bees to honey.

No the point of this is to try something different! I'm not specifically looking to meet someone just if it happened to come up and I just thought that a night out in a diff place on my own might be a laugh I don't know.....

Maybe in hindsight it wasn't a great idea lol I just thought that it might be fun and I was hoping I wasn't just a little odd.......now I think I may have a problem lol

Please don't. I have to share a road with you and plan on being alive for another while.

Better than a pot noodle and a w@nk mate.

I liked your "take a little drive to the nearest town" :D

Oh you simple country folk...when will they ever learn, eh? :p

We living in Communist China or something now? Since when is driving to a town and having a few drinks illegal?

Now if he plans on driving home straight after said drinks, we have an issue, but he's not indicated this anywhere.

Have you ever seen those guys in clubs that stand at the bar with a pint of Guinness? Usually older and wearing a leather jacket, staring at every girl that walks by? What do you think of those guys, OP? Think they're a bit odd/pervy/potential rapists? That's what people will think of you if you do this. Head out with your mates and have a laugh instead.

On another note, drinking alone is not healthy. Fair enough, I've often enjoyed a pint on a Saturday afternoon with the paper while I'm waiting on someone to do shopping or something but out for the night is a different story.

Well unless he plans on sleeping in the town overnight.......

Sounds like fun to me - I love headin out in places I haven't been before. Prob best to get a taxi though no? And on a saturday I'd stay clear of big superpub type establishments as they're more likely to be full of groups of people out together and it'd be more difficult to get chatting to folk. I say do a bit of a mini pub crawl around some smaller 'old man' type places, get loaded and a deadly night will ensue ha^^ hav a good one

Go out, put on a dodgy Italian accent and introduce yourself to people as Mario from Naples who is on holidays but got separated from the group.

Several times when we've been out we've encountered some foreigner who was somewhat lost and we were happy to take them under our wing and let them drink with us.
I think most people would be much more receptive to someone like this that say someone who came up and introduced themselves as Joe from Mullingar, who likes to go out alone (cue Cape Fear music)...

Years ago, I was out and this guy who'd been hanging around on his own by the side of the dancefloor came over to me with the line "jaysus, oo've a fine set o' strayt tayth on oou" (translation- "you have a set of teeth which are aesthetically pleasing to a gentleman who appreciates the structural quality of a straight line").

I had a bit to drink so was utterly charmed by this silver-tongued Lothario and, when he offered to buy me a drink, I accepted. Until he turned to the bar, slammed his fist on it and ordered two porters.

    I legged it.

Wow this escalated quickly.... lol well as you may guess I decided it was in my best interests to stay at home! But just FYI I wasn't intending on drink driving I actually have a brain (was gona sleep in the car)!

Taking everyone's opinions into consideration....I wasn't going to act like a psycho standing there oogling girls lol my plan was to just have a pint or 2 in a few different pubs, then go to a club and mingle a little! I know that there is arisk of looking like a psycho but don't wear leather jackets lol. Oh and just in case people were wondering I wasn't going out to find an easy lay or anything like that, I'm not that kinda guy, just thought maybe meet someone, few drinks etc. have a nice night that ends in a gentlemanly fashion!

This thread has become quite interesting though! I am going to do this in a few weeks just for the craic I'm actually just going to see what sort of a night it would be and how people react. It's funny how different people see it in different ways.

    Thanks everyone for your input!
