What will the decade 2010 to 2019 be called?

So, we're coming to the end of a decade, where no satisfactory name has existing (2000's, noughties, etc). This has caused much confusion and unrest, and will result in hard times for the nostalgia industry in 20 years, as they wont have a quick buzzword to market this decade by, as they had with 50s, 60s 70s 80s, etc.

So, we've got another 10 and a half months to agree on a name for the next decade, what will it be?

"The tens", "The Teens" "Twenty Tens"?

What did they call it last time around?

    The tens.

You know, there were people who pondered a similar question to yours in 1979.

"What'll we call them? The Eighties? It just sounds wrong..."

Good. I shared a Guinness with me dad, watched the hootenanny, made sure my computer wasn't mental and went to bed.

The only time that you can't do that is 1999...

Not if you use a decimal year.

Probably the tens or twenty tens.

Alternatively, the Great Depression II followed in the twenties by World War III. As a result of this people will be more interested in surviving than what to call the decade they live in. Talk about history repeating itself...

On a side note i hope to god we aren't going to be using two thousand (and) twelve and what not rather than the better sounding twenty twelve.

Well considering this decade doesn't end till midnight 31st December 2010 we have plenty of time to name the next one :p

    Wrong ShooterSF.
    1990-1999 - The Nineties
    2000-2009 - This decade
    2010- 2019 - The Tens?

    Yeah.
It was the second ever and last 9 year decade.
An anomaly, like a 29 day february.

Screw that. I'm still deciding whether to say twenty ten or two thousand ten.

Say twenty-ten, we all have to start naming years like that eventually.

Presumably you'll be programmed and brainwashed into saying the one that gains popularity.

The London Olympics are being touted as the twenty-twelve olympics so i think we know what the mysterious "they" wish for you to use.

1980-1990 The "just a coffee thanks" years
    1991-1999 The "coffee/latté in a packet" years
    2000-2009 The "latté/espresso/moco loco/sambuca" years
2010 + Aribica caffinese-type style coffee light (Lidl) years
