Can you remember the reg of your old (now sold etc) cars?

I cant even remember my last cars reg and i only sold it last summer. But some people seem to be able to remember every single reg going back to the old ABC 123 days.

I can remember the reg of my first "real" car. That's the only one, and that was back in '00.

296 DZO - Datsun Cherry. The chassis leg fell off so I moved to 24 EZI - VW Golf. Then I had 89D37412 VW Passat - do a Cartell check and look at the fuel type ;)

Any cars I've had since then are most likely still on the road so I won't quote the reg numbers.

My Dad had a Ford Cortina - IBI 606. It was an early 1970s model.

EDIT: My mother had an old VW Beetle - KZC 974 (or maybe 974 KZC - I can't remember) - does anyone know what year that was?

Yep, can remember all reg of parents cars back to 1983 when I was 4 and now my own cars also.

Yup, have the paper work for them as well, all they way back to 84'ish including paperwork from Revenue. When I brought in a MK111 XR3i in 1990, £1875 quid, i think it was to clear it...kept the old number plates too...

Ohh ya I have a few bent valves from same, after the belt snapped, fitted two new ones, and away she flew....:D

My Dad's Hillman Hunter UZF 102

Here in Belgium you hold the same number plate from when you start driving, I find that rather quaint.

    First Family Car

EBI 252 Ford Anglia (mint green)

That would have been around 1970-1972 and my Dad got it secondhand.

I used to be able to tell the year and county by the reg, but as I get older things stop working

Saw one of mine yesterday near Harcourt St - 98 D 33159 - the current owner is doing a great job of keeping it like it was new - can't believe it hasn't been modded.

A gas passet? Was it lpg? How was it like to run in 1989?

I still have one of the old reg cars, 583zy!

Yep - LPG. I got it converted in 1997!! (for free). It ran grand on the gas. A marginal loss in power but it only cost IR£18 to fill the gas tank and it did 350 miles! I don't remember how much it cost to fill the petrol tank (I rarely did) but IIRC I had a range of over 800 (mostly urban) miles with both tanks.

Cool! Thanks. It was the '63 or '64 reg. It had oval taillights. If it was a '77 model it would have had round taillights.

    Much appreciated!

I remember the reg's of my Childhood cars (parents). My father had HIV 280 a Toyota Corrola Diesel (One day someone stuck paper into the reg with HIV POS) on it:pac:

My mother had a WIF 497 VW MkI Diesel Golf 4 speed. I can remember scraping the ice off the inside of the windows nevermind the outside. The Diesel Corolla used to be hillstarted on a hill near the house and hill started by my father at another hill at his workplace:pac: The golf used to take a few newspapers burning near the intake to fire her up on cold mornings. My family were radical adherents to the good book of bangernomics up until about 2000 when they became bertieised.

Have the registrations of all cars in the family since my Dad got his first car with the exception of one - a 1966 Standard that nobody can remember. I don't beat myself up about it too badly though as I wasn't born at the time. Fifty one cars and counting so far...

Interestingly I came across a Fiesta in Belgium last year that had the exact same registration as a Mark 1 Escort van we had in the family in the early seventies.

I remember me first car reg. Oddly, I could remember the reg's of most cars that pass through our forecourt, and the regs of most of the cars on the forecourt now.

I know people's cars by their regs more than their cars:P
