    Right now i'm at-

    bench 101kg
    squat ~100kg
    deadlift ~120

All i want for christmas is-

    bench 120kg
    squat 160kg
    deadlift ~180-200kg

I'd be delighted with that. and a beach body. :D

get to 80kg in 12 months.

    lift wise:
    150kg squat
    100kg bench
    150kg deadlift

if i could get close to those by xmas i might think about a competition, dunno about those singlets though. :D

long term id love a +180kg squat.

other goals with no real time frame are compete in both a marathon and tri. i keep putting them off but theyre not forgotten.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,165 ✭✭✭✭brianthebard

I'd kill for a bodyweight bench atm.
The main goal right now is not to get injured again, making good progress and don't want to lose that.
a 500kg total of some sort would be my overall lifting goal for the next 6-12 months, currently 75+135+160=370, long way to go.
To be able to do a pull up unassisted first, then 10 pull/chin ups in one go would be another two goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,640 ✭✭✭podge57

short term - squat 180kg by my 20th birthday (next month) - should do this fairly easily
go at least 10 games without conceding a goal - number 6 2moro :D (gaelic football btw)

    longer term:
600kg raw total early next year
    200kg+ squat " "
    maybe get into equipped lifting

dont really have any goals for 12+ months away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,921 ✭✭✭Remmy

I want to eventually be able to do a handstand pushup then later 10 in a row.Ive never even tried to do one but they look really difficult.the same goes roughly with pullups.

I want to stick to my program rigidly for the next two years. Then I can look back and see where Im at.

1)Fix my shoulder/scapula once and for all - currently making progress on this.

2)Fix my ankle which still isn't healed fully since I injured it in April - when my knee tracks forward it hurts...bad. I don't want to stop football training though as the team is a lot more competitive this season and running doesn't seem to aggravate it.

    3) Related to #2, get back squatting. I had posted on another boards forum that I wanted to squat 180kg before September too. That isn't going to happen now so I'll accept simply regularly squatting again.

    4) Also mentioned before about running 5K in 18mins. I revised that down to 3miles (4.8K) as it fits my route easier and was actually the intended distance, I just used a rough conversion. I ran 5K in 20mins 24secs in April so this goal should fall before September too.

That's a huge amount of time to shave off before September man! Massive kudos if you do it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,635 ✭✭✭tribulus

Well I haven't tested it recently but I've pre-season football training 3x week (or 2x training and 1x match) now as well as out running once a week so considering that and the fact the distance I'll be doing is 200m less I reckon I have a chance!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,639 ✭✭✭LightningBolt

5k in 18mins would be pretty nice if youre carrying a bit of weight.

I'll just be happy to drop down to 100k by end of September and be able to fit all my suits in time for work. Really not looking forward to having to shell out for 3 new ones in October.

If I can keep up my training the way I am currently I'll be a happy boy!

My goals are the same as those I set at the beginning of the year (new years resolutions). They are conservative enough (with the exception of pull ups). I am confident of meeting them if I get a decent run of training with no more work travels.
    Bench 100kg (current = 90kg)

    Deadlift 150kg (current = 132kg)

    Squat 125kg (current = 110kg)

    Weight 75kg (current = 76kg)

Pull Ups 20 (current = 14). This will be the hardest. Realistically any progress between 14 and 20 will be good.

We're fairly dead even on these lifts now, wanna race? :P Though I am a couple kilos heavier.

I have no doubt that when you are 28 like moi (in 12 years?!) you will have surpassed me by light years.

I'm following the 5/3/1 programme which should get me to my goals by year end, fingers crossed... so I'm not exactly "racing". ... but yeah, you're on :)

Do the Frank Duffy 10 miler in August

    The half mara in September

And then all going well the full mara in October

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

Main goal: Finish the Dublin Marathon, hoping for sub-4:30 but will be happy with sub-5.

Other goals: Get down to 60kg (67.5 right now), 5 miles in under 45 minutes, 10k in under 55 minutes, 10 miles in below 1:35, half-marathon under 2:10. I would eventually like a sub-2 hour half-marathon, but under 2:10 in September would make me a very happy camper.

I'm currently 242 lbs which is about 17.5 stone. I want to get down to between 11 and 12 stone by the end of March next year which gives me about 9 months which I guess is about a 5-6 stone weight loss.

I also could do with ending this never ending dry spell that I'm suffering. Slightly off topic fitness wise, but still a goal.

Since I finally got money sorted I'll be hittin the gym at the end of the week.
Starting from nothing now I'd like to be hitting by this time next year:
    110kg bodyweight (130-135 right now.)
    Bodyweight bench.
    150kg squat.
Mile in under 9 minutes, which is fairly pathetic, but would be a massive improvement.

You could walk a mile in under 9 mins. You could try walk 1 min, jog 1 min repeating for ten mins to build up some jogging endurance. Change it to walk 1.5 mins, jog 1.5 mins the next week and you'll be there in no time. It doesnt matter how slow the jog is, it will still work.

Within the next 6 - 8 months. I'd like to do the following:

    Squat: 160kg (Currently 130kg)
    Bench Press: 120kg (Currently 100kg)
    Deadlift: 160kg (Currently 130kg)
    Shoulder Press: 70kg (Currently 55kg)

Reasonable enough goals I think. Nothing to far fetched....

I currently weigh 84kg. Probably want to get that up to about 90kg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,485 ✭✭✭✭Khannie

He's in good shape for his weight alright. I'm guessing he probably walks around at 80+KG given that weigh in of just shy of 76.
