Buying Tickfast tickets off somebody else

    Hey
I've just purchased 2 tickets on Ebay to a gig but they're Ticketfast. I've been emailed the tickets - but it says on the Ticketmaster website that obviously they can only be scanned in once & if it comes up on their reader on the night of the concert they've already been scanned in, the guy's name whom I bought them off is on the ticket.

Is this a safe way to buy the tickets? Is there anything I can do to ensure I don't get screwed over? I've paid a lot of money for the tickets.

Do you have solid contact details for the person?

Get there early is the only thing I can think of. If you get scanned in before the other guy (if he's scamming you, then the scam is on him)

Remember now, he could also cancel the tickets for a refund and get his money back that way.

But other than that, as long as you have solid contact details for him you should be OK.

Do get their early though in case he gives you a copy.

    Rubbish, ticketmaster don't issue refunds.

    Hi,

Just to reiterate a few points already made, yes, contact details. Make sure you have as much information as possible. If it is a scam you could also get in touch with your credit card company and the more information you have, the better.

Also, I'm not aware of Ticketmaster issuing refunds for gigs not cancelled, they have never striked me as a nice, consumer friendly company, so I'd expect the worst from them (but be pleasantly surprised if there was a postive outcome!!).

So maybe ask your seller for his full name and address?!?!?!

    GOOD LUCK

Tickets bought with lost / stolen credit cards can be cancelled. They'll appear legit but the barcode will not work on the day. Afaik they'll only do this with barcoded tickets.

I didn't think I needed to put 'in this case' on comment, but take it my comment was in the context of the post.

Even if you are sent real paper tickets you take a risk. The person can ring TM and say they never got the tickets in the post, then the can either send new ones, or you have to go to the box office with your CC and present it to get your replacements. The latter usually happens since they cannot trust the postman or the person claiming they did not get them. If you ever legitmately lose tickets do not tell them this as you get no refund, tell them they never came in the post and you can get replacments at the box office.

So in that case you would turn up and the scanner would show yours as invalid, doesn't matter who turns up first. In the case of the printout ones it is easier for a seller to scam you, since he could sell large amounts of the same tickets as he is just emailing them around. In that case I imagine it is first in the door who gets in, as long as the originals were legitimately paid for.
