    Hi,
I'm looking for any info/help on how to start a chauffeur company?
I can get into corporate travel, golf breaks for americans etc but I think I must become a chauffeur.

Has anyone done it and can spare some info?
Do i need a license like every taxi/hackney driver has?
I will be doing long houl trips only, no A-to-B trips within the city.
I spent good bit on taxi regulator'e website trying to figure out if I need a SPSV license, and I figure I dont.
    Thanks a mil!!

    Chauffeurs need a PSV license.
    Think again about it.
The market is saturated with Chauffeurs.

If you've spent time on taxi regulator website you'd see you need a PSV licence. Have you got one? Have a tax clearance certificate?

And if you think you'll have rich Americans in Ireland looking for chaffeurs, think again.
Weddings is what you need to aim at but competition will be there!

I had a quick google on Irish companies. The first link had this car.
    Coooool car!

    Thanks for your answers.
I do realize that times of rich Americans golfing here is gone. That was just an example, as was corporate travel. Weddings wont be my cup of tea either.
I'll provide different kind service but based on same pricipal as the ones above.
    :P

Are you planning on commuting from NYC?

''weddings won't be my cup of tea either''

Yeah, you'd probably do better making tea.

    +1
    You definitely need a PSV.
You would more than likely end up having to use your car as a hackney/taxi in order to make ends meet. It's cut throat out there at the moment so unless I had a unique selling point that would guarantee me income I'd seriously reconsider this.

    Thanks Eoin,
That's all I needed to know.
I know times are brutal at the moment but I was offered great opportunity so I wont be begging for just any business. I should be fairly ok once I start.

This is the marketspace you're proposing to head into. Have a think about that. Granted what you will be doing is a small subsection but it's important you go in with your eyes opened.

Hey you should read the book "White Tiger" the main character started a chauffeur business.

Basics are as follows; Murder Boss and steal his money. Use the money to hire cars and bribe local officals to close down the competitions. Anything goes wrong, keep bribing.

Its based in India but I think we have the same entrepreneurial spirit in Ireland so it should work just as well.

In the end you could even write a book about it, call it "Green Tiger", or "How i used the drumcondra mafia to beat the Crumlin Mafia"
