We dont really celebrate the start of a bunch of english colonists taking land from, giving diseases to, killing, and generally buggering about, an entire race of people.

Maybe it's just a weird Irish thing..

    Enjoy your turkey :)

Firstly we prefer to be called little people and also we only have Turkey on Christmas day and those of us living in Galway on the 19th of July to celebrate when we were liberated from the Indians

Do the Americans even get a day off today? A mate of mine moved over there to work in a big multi-national and gets something daft like 10 days holiday a year, with six Bank Holidays.

At least the rest of the world will be safe in the knowledge that, whilst the Americans are tucking into their turkeys, they won't be bombing the sh1t out of them.:pac:

We should have a No-begrudgery Day.

I was reading about Thanksgiving there recently. The Indian who helped them learn how to farm etc was called Squanto and he was brought to Europe as a slave a couple of times. So he spent 19 years of his life in captivity in Spain and England yet he still went out of his to help the settlers which I think is a really nice story. Its funny though most people don't seem to question why he could communicate with the settlers but it was because he had perfect english and spanish.

Why would we ? I mean, are we celebrating "Eid" today ?

And speaking of which, when exactly is "Independence Day" ?

    A) 6th Dec [ 1922 ]
    B) 29th December [ 1937 ]
    C) 1st April [ 1949 ]

Both great sports, personally I don't care who says one is football and one is not. Personally, if someone said to me 'did you see the football last night?', I wouldnt think they were asking me did I see Green Bay take apart Detroit.
