A new RTE comedy?

I caught the end of "The Last word" question (matt cooper show) on Today FM and the question was who stars in the new RTE comedy (insert name here).

    Ardal O'Hanlon
    Dylan Moran
    Tommy Tiernan

Not sure what the answer was in the end but the main thing I am interested in is what is the name of the actual show? And when is it on?

IMDB lists nothing on any of these people for 2009 that could be on RTE and the RTE website does not mention it, or if it does they do not say who is in some of the shows so I don't know which one it is.

Watch a couple of scenes on the player www.rte.ie/player that should be enough to put you off irish comedy for life.

Hope Matt used air quotes when he used the term "RTE comedy"

Thanks guys, not listed as a comedy on the RTE site so that's why I could not find it.

    So its that bad huh?
    wow....

Will probably give it a go and see where my license money is being spent.

After seeing how bad RTÉ's scripted comedy has been in the past decade, myself and a mate of mine are taking it upon ourselves to write a comedy pilot between now and the new year. We're both breaking into (or at least attempting to break into) the world of stand-up comedy, and I've got experience in script writing, so we said we'd try our hand at it. Not necessarily gonna try and sell it to RTÉ... Channel 4 will be approached first, but we're basing it on the fact that if sh*t like Val Falvey TD gets put on telly, surely anything we can come up with will be a million times better...

Eh, worse ! Another night he called it a "hit Irish comedy" after only the first episode was shown :o The man has obviously no comedic taste, last week he said he never heard of or knew what QI was about.

Ah QI, now there is a show that RTE could not possibly make. For one thing we have no equivalent to Stephen Fry.

Dara O'Briain would do a good job of it.

Yeah he was the only one to spring to mind but he is not sophisticated enough for the show. Could he pull off all those big words?

O Briain is a smart bastard..

.. he has a degree in homeopathy from before he went down the Echo Island route.

There was numerous times on QI where he spouted out a couple of facts about numbers and equations.. he's definitely a smart lad!

This could be worth a listen too: http://sguforums.com/index.php?topic=24478.0

I think his degree is in mathematical physics. He puts down homeopathy alot in his stand up shows!

David Norris would be quite good I think?

His accent alone would put me off.....Stephen Fry has a more neutral "Brit" accent!
