Not sure if this was a stunt unique to where I saw it yesterday - but I saw a group of kids on the Knocklyon Road - outside Superquinn - surround a car that was stopped at the lights and slide it across the icy road. It was a single female driver who must have been scared sh*tless!

I can't get my head around why they thought this was an ok/funny/acceptable thing to do. Makes me worry for the future.

On top of that - I saw a group of guys further down the road who looked like they were in their mid 20's pelting cars with snowballs. I can kind of understand younger kids thinking there's no harm in it - but guys in their 20's?

Am I too old and sensible - or is this offside?

On a road slippy enough for kids to be able to push a car sideways?;)

Seen the "Hoodie gang" draggin wheelie bins across the road
from my estate, blocking one lane. So as cars slow down/skid and
stop to go around the bins the tyoung fella's pelt the cars, even some
of these scumbags running up to the cars and pelting them a bit more
for good measure, think they were hoping to break some windows.
Nice next generation on the way!

What were the kids using for traction?

I've no idea (wasn't there). Ruts in the snow?

One of the girls in work had one of those kids jump onto her bonnet, left it dented.

Apparently the cops were called multiple times throughout the day but didn't bother turning up

I've also seen a bunch of **** running alongside the cars as they go slow, pull the drivers door open and throw snow in at the drivers.

Five or more people on ice could gain more traction then a car.

plenty of kids around pelting snowballs at all passing cars, my bf was tellin me in estate where he lives, kids were rolling lots of snow then when they had enough rolling in out into the road, blocking that side of road completley

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,399 ✭✭✭Bonito

Some kids built a massive snow barricade across the exit of a housing estate ( a fairly posh one I might add), was fairly big, up to knee height at least and about a metre or 2 in depth, a certain disgruntled gentleman thought his shiny fancy 08 S4 could take on the snow, epic fail  Then insult to injury his son was one of the main culprits.

Fairly typical of Knocklyon these days, kids here act like the ****ing dregs.

aint that the truth, and its the ones with the wealthy parents too, not just the cream-crackers.

Twice I had to go out and ask them to decline building Snowmen at the entrance to Orlagh Grove. Cue snowball attack on the house positively breaking themselves trying to smash a window.

A woman mailed Ray D'arcy earlier to say that a shower of scumbags pelted a funeral cortege with snowballs last night. Hit the hearse a few times. Not sure where it happened.

Oh, it's every kid - nothing to do with social status. It's only 7 years since I left Colaiste Eanna, and while we took the piss now and then and knacker drank etc, we never did the stuff local teenagers are now(latest is drunk teenagers jumping on all the cars along our estate).

Throwing snowballs is a laugh, moving peoples cars, creating deliberate obstacles on the road and causing drivers to break/turn unnecessarily when the roads are like this = idiotic in the extreme, not to mention dangerous

Seriously? Surely even scumbags know better than to do that?

'Attack' might be a bit strong, but throwing snowballs at a hearse isn't exactly fun and games either.

I saw a crowd of hoors on the frozen canal in Maynooth yesterday trying to crack it while they were on it. Then throwing snowballs at the incoming trains. Although I must say I did go on a snowman killing rampage last night and got chased by an over protective fat man. But thats harmless fun:rolleyes:

Was driving through Kilnamanagh in Tallaght and there's pedestrian lights just outside the Dunnes stores. Scumbags were pressing the button and waiting til the lights went red, and then pelted all the cars that were stopped

Some pyjama wearing 'AJH' mongrel of a girl threw a huge friggin snowball at my windscreen yesterday, mightn't sound like much but she decided to jump in front of me to do it and it was a very icy stretch where I had no traction at all

...like, would you use them lying down under the front, or rear wheels.......??:p

All of the above things are completely distinct from throwing snow balls. Nobody should do the things you listed.

But everybody (at least anybody who enjoys life just a tiny bit and can find fun in the world around him/her) should throw snow balls. They shouldn't throw them at hearses now (that would be like singing Wake Me Up Before You Go Go at a funeral; great song but a little inappropriate).

IMO, if you haven't thrown at least one snowball this Christmas, you are a complete snooze. That is all.

I'm sitting in bed here and the kids are ringing the doorbell and pelting snowballs like mad. Angry about how I broke their snowmen.

Happened to me earlier. I was stopped at the lights and a guy ran up and threw a huge snowball at me. Little did he realise he had gotten me yesterday, so when I was stopped before it, I had taken snow off the roof and made a nice compacted snowball. Cue me opening the door and lashing it off his head. All his mates were in stitches and left my car alone then! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,244 ✭✭✭kirving

Last night out Superquinn Knocklyon there were 2 cars stopped at the lights getting dozens of snowballs pelted at them. Up drives a transit with a kind of pick up bed and about 5 of those scumbag kids hang on the back on the van waiting for it to start moving. One lad jumps INTO the bed of the van and start hitting the roof. Stupid Behaviour!

At this stage the lights have gone green and the 2 cars in front are taking it very slowly. The guy in the van finds some traction and floors it, goes on to the wrong side of the road and overtakes the two stopped cars, with the 4 lads still hanging off the back.

Once they realised that the van driver wasnt goign to stop, they let go and slid down the road for a few meters before going on their asre! Brilliant!

WTF!!!! Those Knocklyon stories are insane! Aaargh! Just frikking great - what times did these incidents happen by the way outside Superquinn? I was gonna do my grocery shopping there tomorrow evening on my way home from work but am not going if some stupid thick ignorant kids are gonna try and make my journey hell - I mean wtf like? Do they actually not have a single brain cell in their stupid heads? Attacking cars which could easily slip and slide all over the road and possibly run them over?! Think I'll wait for the weekend to do the shopping and my boyfriend can come with me instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 925 ✭✭✭Plates

Incident I saw happened yesterday around 5. There were still a big group of rowdy f**kers there at 6 - about 50 or 60 in total.

Maybe we can get a big group of us together this evening and go on a vigilante style teenager flogging spree! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,244 ✭✭✭kirving

I'll add one more from yesterday.. slow moving traffic on the NCR, of course the local kids were throwing snowballs at the cars. I thought the Garda car behind me might make them stop, but no, they just pelted the Garda car too.
I dont really have anything against throwing snowballs but alot of people found it hard driving in those conditions and it just made things worse.

Thanks for letting me know! There's that idea out then - no grocery shopping for me! Ugh stupid eejits. 50 or 60 of them?!!

I can't believe the gardai wouldn't call out though - I mean it's insane! It's so dangerous. Feckin arrest the whole lot of them for causing public disorder!

I walked through superquinn at 4:45pm yesterday on the way home, about 40-60 cars in the carpark, and about 70~ teenagers outside the front of the shops walking around.

those kids should be arrested, beaten up and hung by the balls from a very high burning tree...

I blame the people who drive carefully around them :)
few cracked limbs and/or skulls would do those boys no harm.

Was coming home from work yesterday from The Square In tallaght and the roads were basically an icerink and highly dangerous.

As I waited at a t junction to turn in the very slow moving traffic a group of about 6 teenagers were grabbing hold of cars spoilers and slidding down the road behind them. The drivers were getting very annoyed with them but were prob too scared to stop and tell them to get lost.

My turn came to move on and of course I was one of the unlucky people to have a spoiler on my car and they all made a beeline for my car with thumbs up to me as if i was happy about them gradding my spoiler with the possibility of them pulling it off my car.

I would never advise anyone to floor there car in these conditions except for a situation like this so just as they got to the rear of my car and tried to grab my spolier I floored it, wheels spinning like mad but my car gripped and began to accelerate, as I watched my rear view mirror i saw the ring leader slaming face first into the road because of my sudden change of speed along with the rest of them slipping all over the place and no one getting a proper hols on my car, they all looked like a bunch of idiots as I sped rather to fastly down the road but that'll show them, I hope he broke his nose too!!

These kids dont have any common sense about how dangerous the roads were and if any car went out of control they would be easily crushed with the driver not being able to do a thing!

The lads in knocklyon are the same ones that were throwing fireworks at people on Halloween. Going by them on new years day there was about 20 lads on the road waiting for cars to come up pulling and pushing the cars, one tried putting their fist through a window and a few others were throwing anything they could find at the cars not just snow balls but bottles and sticks as well. 3 cars lost control in the space of time it took to walk by them and then when a lad got out of his car they just started pelting him. A few cars slowed down in case they hit the lads but then the lads tried opening the cars.

They were all up in Superquinn a few minutes later getting plastic gloves from the deli counter so their hands wouldnt get wet when they were making snow balls. I swear people almost died as a result of it.
