    Hi there guys,

I've been a West Ham United Supporter since I was a kid, I've heard all the jokes and jibes over the years. If you'd like to put your shillings worth into this tread maybe we could find a good West Ham following on these Boards. I have also opened a section of the community with photos of The Hammers. So lets hear your views on West Ham United.

    Thanks

Well I've not been a fan too long (about 2 years) as i took a long break from football.
I think with the squad we have now after january we should finish 11th or 12th hopefully.
Haven't been to the Boleyn yet but hopefully I'll be going to college in east London next year so should get plenty of chances to see them :D

Well what attracted you to follow West Ham in the first place, there not your every day glamor team, like Man U, Liverpool Arsenal, Chelsea ETC. I find the younger guys only follow the top 5/6 teams in the Premiership...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,044 ✭✭✭BigBenRoeth

    Ye that's exactly it.
I didn't want to follow a team that would be winning most weeks,as to be honest,if they're not your local team there's no reason you should follow them.
When it came down to it I had the choice of which team to follow, and for some reason I chose the Irons........I don't really know why either......probably because they are a club with rich history and of coure "West Ham won the world cup for England" :p

God your a guy with the same thoughts as most West Ham die hards, West Ham had a good input to England's World Cup success.

We had four players in that team, can you name all four?

Our best season was in 1984 - 1985 when we came 3rd in the old 1st division
we had the partnership of Tony Cottee and Frank Mac Avennie, and of course
the great John Loyalle as manager.

you'd never know we might be able to dig up some history about the Hammess.: cool:

We should finish 11th or 12th hopefully.
    :D
I wish that was possible but we're 7 points adrift of 12th place with 10 games left (and our next two games are away to Chelsea and Arsenal). I think we'd be very lucky to finish in 13th, 14th or 15th place. That's about the best we can hope for but I'd just be relieved to avoid relegation to be honest. It's been a poor season, mainly as we got off to a bad start - after the opening day win obviously - and usually when that happens we never really pull ourselves out of the bottom half (which was again the case this season). But hopefully we can stay in the Premiership and keep Zola and Clarke as well as key players like Parker. Upson is already halfway out the door as far as he's concerned and it's affecting his game as he's been a liability this season so I won't mind seeing the back of him. Bring on a streamlined, cohesive team to make 2010/11 a much better season.

Well good man thanks for leaving a post there's 4 of us now, Hammers I mean.
Did you look at the gallery I put in some pic's a few weeks ago . See what you think of them, hope to see more of your your posts as we progress. Anyway I don,t think we'll go down this season but it depends on our run in. We won't want to be slipping up as we did against Bolton(bogie team for the Hammers) .

Ye the loss against Bolton was unexpected.........but that leads to the question............who's our top 3 hammers?
    I'd say,in this order: Diamanti,Parker,Cole.
    What d'you think?

Yea looked at the M.O.T.D last night, taught we were caught cold early in the match. Two goals down after 20 mins a bit of a bitter pill to swallow. We had our moments in the second half but chance after chance went a-begging. in the end Bolton deserved their win and we were lucky not to have been beaten by more, in the end 2-1 didn't look to bad but it was a loss of 3 points that was hard for us. We'll just have to pick up the tempo and press on and try and build on our home form. I honestly don't expect us to get anything out of the Arsenal/ Chelsea matches in our next two away games. Talk soon, keep up the comments guys,

    Well guys,
another tough one for the Hammers on Saturday 13th March. As you know we're off to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea, I must admit I was all out for Chelsea to win the Premiership this season, but I won't be to upset if we get a result.

After our last two matches away to Man United 3-0 West Ham, and thed West Ham 1-2 Bolton. We are then off to Arsenal on Saturday 20th March, another tough match for us

West Hams Manager Gianfranco Zola will relish the chance to get a result from his former Chelsea employers. I'm sure he will get a rousing reception from the Chelsea supporters where he was a favorite player at the Bridge with 323 appearances between November 1996 & May 2003 scoring 80 goals.

Chelsea's Frank Lampard & Joe Cole could be facing their old club West Ham where they both started their professional careers.Lampard made 187 league and cup appearances for West Ham, scoring 38 goals. Before headig to Chelsea in June 2001, Cole with 149 games for the Hammers with 13 goals before his switch to Stamford Bridge in August 2003. Blues Captain John Terry also spent some time at West Ham as a school boy.

All in all were in for a great match this Saturday, so sit back and enjoy it. Hopefully we will do well at the Bridge.

The odds are up against us,but Chelsea will definitely be without Belletti Bosingwa Cech & Ashley Cole and Carvalho,Deco and Essien are major doubts.
That should give us a much better chance.

Yeah Ben, but it's another big test for the Claret & Blues, i'd love nothing better but to get a good result. We just can't afford to just throw away three points, lets make a good push for a result.

So long as we go for it instead of lying down.....when we played them at home in December the players played their hearts out and we should have won if it wasn't for a bogus penalty given against us

Story of the Hammers lives, play teams off the pitch for 30 minutes + then we give away a sloppy goal just before half time. Second half running around like headless chickens trying to score, give away a free kick outside the penalty area, wham 2 down and then it becomes a struggle..... hard then to come back.

I'm also doubly hoping we get a result tomorrow as I have a bet on from about 2 months ago for Arsenal to win the league

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 670 ✭✭✭Tail Wagger

Well Arsenal to be honest were written off some months ago, they are peaking at about the right time of the season. Will they have the courage to go all the way, it' still an open book.
