Do you have a rolling-pin in your kitchen? If you don't you can buy one for alot less than 30yoyos and it'll do the same job.

Yeah apparently the reviews say that the stick has a bit of bend in it where the rolling pin doesnt

Magic stick - might as well get maigc beans.

The TP quad roller is a little too hard to use. Very sore.
The TP grid is firm than foam roller, not as firm as the quad roller and gets in deep. However I always worried that it would shatter underneath my weight and impale me.

I made my own Foam Roller by getting one of those foam camping mats and about 5 baked bean tins.
Simply place the tins at one end of the mat in a line and roll the mat up till it's closes and tie at either end. this works just as well as anything you can buy.

Imagine this with the tins going through the centre.

The bend in the magic stick is very gradual I can't imagine it being any better than the rolling pin.

I do sometimes wonder what non running people must think when they visit us. A rolling pin on the bedside table, a freezer full of bags of powder (ice packs), a press full of sports bottles, rubber suits and HRM straps hanging from the showerrail....

I'm thinking of getting one of these sticks, I tried one on my shins a few times and it seems to have made a big difference. Rolling pin doesn't work as it is too wide and flat, similar issues with the foam rollers. The ridges and individual rollers on the stick seems to make a big difference.

I know a few people who swear by them, any boardsies have any horror stories, apart from the price?

Sometimes just getting a new piece of kit gives you the motivation to use it... at least for one injury's worth. That alone, I think, is worth the money. There's precious little novelty in the rolling pin (I've tried the rolling pin, but given up due to lack of impact/boredom... a shiny bit of "gear" on the other hand, might have kept my attention!... maybe I'm just shallow 8-])

I use the Stick on my calves and hamstrings before and after runs. My hamstrings tend to tighten up and the Stick seems to keep them loosened out. Basically, it ensures that my hams don't get so tight that I can't run. As for the calves, I don't really have problems with them, but it feels like I'm working on a big knot when I get at them with the stick. I'd recommend it, but I've never used foam rollers (or rolling pins) so I can't compare it to anything else.

I have both the Stick (original version) and a foam roller. I'd be more inclined to use the roller particularly around the hip flexors and IT band as I can use my body weight to get stuck into the muscle. I find it a lot more awkward to do the same with the stick.
