I was wondering if anyone knows of any late closing coffee shops in Dublin city centre? I'm looking for one that closes around 9pm, but I noticed a lot of places close around 6pm :( Any ideas?

If you find one let me know, I usually end up going to hotel lobbies or the tea garden on ormond quay, all the coffee shops seem to just shut up shop.

Which hotel lobbies are good? I basically need a late closing coffee shop as a location to teach a private English lesson in. This was easy when I lived in London as there were plenty of places, but not so easy here in Dublin :(

I would suggest the alexandar hotel at the back of trinity.
Again the tea garden might be an option for you.

Keogh's cafe on Trinity Street stays open until 8pm and they have really good coffee to boot!

Moda in Rathmines stays open until the wee small hours.

Unfortunately Moda rarely stays open past 10pm nowadays.

The Bald Barista stops serving at 8pm, but you can stick around in the cafe for another hour if you like as it's part of the backpackers hostel.

I wish there were more coffeehouses that stayed open late! It wouldn't even have to be the best coffee, just an alternative place to hang out.

Really? I suppose i don't get out too late myself these days... and if I'm that close to home I'll have coffee in my own kitchen!

Had this same problem in Galway city, there was only one venue that stayed open til 3am but it was across from one of the busiest nightclubs in the city and often got stragglers drunkenly coming in, quite noisy too, although highly entertaining when sober watching the line going into same club! :D

Would love to know if there was one in Dublin, or even just a quiet old mans style pub that would have a snug or two that would be serving tea and coffee?

A lot fo pubs do semi-decent (or drinkable at least!) coffee these days - thankfully nowhere considers a spoon of nescafe in some hot water a coffee at any rate! Kennedys on Westland row do a range of fancy coffees and food and is a nice spot for a coffee. Caffe di Napoli on Westland row (just down from Kennedys!) do lovely coffee but close at 8pm I think. Lincoln's Inn is a nice spot round there too and they do coffee but I have never had it, so can't comment.
