Is it possible to have something delivered to Ireland from a website that says it only delivers within the UK? Is there any postcode i can use along with my home address here that will ensure it gets delivered to me?

I thought i read somewhere here about using a NI postcode, or just putting in EIRE and it will slip through their shipping department unnoticed?!

    Anyone know?

I wouldn't rate your chances that highly. I'd imagine the delivery driver would notice the van slipping across the border.

Can't remember it now but I have read that some people put the Belfast Sorting office post code on the address and then hope the guys there realise that it needs to go South of the Border.

Edit> Thought so its been asked here before

Yes, i knew i had read something along those lines. I wonder is it worth the risk that they might just return it to sender. :(

you could try BT11AA, they use it in the freebie section of the bargain alerts forum here on boards to get free stuff from the UK that only posts to the UK, ive heard good feed back from it

No probably not worth the risk when you're paying for something and you could get stung and lose some cash on it.

Well, i tried it with a really cheap item that i didnt mind losing the cash on, and unfortunately its currently on its way Back to Sender. :( Hopefully i will get a refund.

I think its probably because the company used Parcelforce and not regular Royal mail, i wonder if they had used RM would they have redirected it down south.

Oh well, worth a try. Thankfully my BIL's sister lives up north, so i was able to order the item i really wanted, and got it delivered to her, so its currently enroute to me now. :P
Would be great to be able to find a workaround though for ordering from UK shops not in the Republic. :(

I would not risk the postcode trick. Did you bother to email the company and ask if they will ship to Ireland, I find 95%+ of ebay sellers will, and probably 80-90% of UK companies will. Some obviously have account procedures etc they must follow -the smaller the company the better.

not reallly fair to try and "trick" them into delivering international when they clearly state UK only

its not the same price ,thats probably why they dont want to do it
