Ricky Steamboat in intensive care

According to F4W (and noted in the Raw thread), Ricky Steamboat is in intensive care after suffering a brain aneurysm.
As noted earlier, Ricky Steamboat is in stable condition after a brain aneurysm suffered last night. He was in intensive care earlier today. Steamboat had suffered a neck injury and severe head pain legitimately stemming from the angle on Monday, although the WWE's announcement of cracked ribs was storyline. The aneurysm is not believed to be related to the angle on Monday. But for reasons of taste, WWE has pulled the NXT angle from its Youtube channel due to Steamboat's condition and if he's still in a bad way in a few days, I'm guessing they will downplay the footage on Raw on Monday. He is expected to be hospitalized for some time.

I think I speak for everyone in PW when I wish him the best and hope he has a successful recovery

Jasus that's pretty shocking. Hope he'll be ok. He's still a better wrestler now than half of the WWE Roster.

Ah man that's terrible news.It was great to see The Dragon on Raw this past week. Hopefully he pulls through and makes a full recovery

And that is the truth. I actually made mention of it in the RAW Thread.

    Best of luck Rick.

Jesus! he was only on Raw the other night. I wish him a speedy recovery.

I prefer to watch him in the ring, than most of the roster.

I enjoyed his feud with Jericho last year

I hope he will be ok

He said he had pains in his head after the Nexus attack. Way too rough. I hope he pulls through - but WWE must be held responsible for anything that happens. The attack was too rough, and he had pains in his head after it. Naturally WWE will deflect any blame - but I seriously hope he pulls through. He looked real sharp for his age last year when he stepped back into the ring - and it's a testament to how great of a wrestler he was.

I grew up watching Ricky & Randy Savage go at it. I remember his win from the roll-up from the scoop slam like it was yesterday!

    Get well soon Ricky!

When I watched that segment I thought the big lariat was unnecessary and dangerous on a man his age.

Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Best of luck to the guy. Maybe the last Skip clothesline we will see for a while.

Jim Ross posted the following on his Twitter account:

"Ricky Steamboat's condition is stable. He did not have an aneurism nor is his condition related 2 Raw. He's still hospitalized but improving"

-- Richie Steamboat on his Twitter last night wrote of his father's condition: The issues are worse than expected but he could be worse. God will help him through it... Thanks everyone for all of the support and well wishes. God always helps those in need and he'll help my dad and our family stay strong and fight.

The latest on the health of WWE Hall of Famer Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (real name Richard Blood) is that a capillary burst caused bleeding on the brain following results of an angiogram. The original diagnosis was a brain aneuyrsm. Steamboat, 57, will remain hospitalized for another five days and will be given another angiogram to determine how he is recovering. The serious issue was the bleeding on the brain as capillary bursts are known to heal themselves and are often caused by blunt force. Doctors who examined Steamboat don't believe the capillary burst was related to the angle Monday night on WWE Raw involving the Nexus attack.

This is probably not the right thread to ask in but I didn't wanna start a new one...

What is the full collection of Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat matches? Was it three or four PPV card matches they had. Were there any televised matches (on whatever the precursor to WCW Nirtro was)

The full collection is a very big collection. Most of their matches were in the late '70s, they had some in the early '80s and their most famous ones were in 1989. They had a feud for the WCW title in 1994 as well

Cheers, didn't know they had matches in the 70s.

What matches are at least available on DVD do you know?
(well, WWE's current run of DVDs)

There are "unofficial" DVD sets of every available match between Flair and Steamboat floating about, I think they run 8 or more discs.

Regarding Ricky Steamboat’s health, he is expected to make a full physical recovery but will never wrestle again. The WWE Hall of Famer has been able to work out on an elliptical machine, but is prohibited from lifting anything heavier than five pounds.

The good news is he is healthy.:)

Its a shame he can't wrestle anymore but to be honest despite the fact he has more ring savvy than 80% of the roster he really doesn't need to be wrestling at this moment in his life.

It's one of my fondest memories of last year, with a ring with Cena, Punk, Edge, Jericho and Jeff to name a few that the fans were marking out the most for him. :)

True, it was probably the nicest send-off a guy could have - a whole arena chanting 'you've still got it' as you push close to 60. Sadly I don't think Flair or Hogan will enjoy anything comparable.

Not a hope. Flair should have bowed out at 'Mania, it was a great send-off.

It's great that Ricky will recover, he was a great competitor and if anything, he proved it again at Mania, and then again at Backlash.
