I'm sure I'm not the only baby first year who has many many questions!

but the two I'm wondering about right now are:

is there a student union shop in the arts block? I saw a leaflet for it in the SU but I have yet to find it! I hear they have cheap hoodies

also I have a lot of reading to do for my course but when I'm reading I'm not sure if I should just be literally just reading the information or making notes as I go along? I'm not even sure what kind of notes I should be making!

answers would be much appriciated

Not that I know of? but that doesn't mean there isn't one. You can buy hoodies in the Londis in JH though, think they're about €30

And making little notes as you read are probably a good idea. It makes concentrating on something a lot easier (well it helps me anyway). There's a reading technique called SQ3R, which is pretty good. Here's a link to some info on it > http://www.studygs.net/texred2.htm

There will be a SU shop in the Arts Block in the coming few weeks, should be at the same time as the blue seats will be replaced. I am sure Leopoldbloom and Banquo have more info on the exact dates and info about the SU shop. At the moment you can get a hoodie in Londis in JH.

Not sure if the SU does, but the Academic Advisory Office does! And free highlighters too ;) If you go down the corridor beside Bewleys in the Arts Block, Academic Advisory is the room with loads of seats in front of it.

And avoid any luminous orange ones at all cost! :D

whats the catch with the durex?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,176 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

I can vouch for the €2 condoms EXACT same as more expensive ones. I reckon they bought the stock from a vending machine company that went bust from the liqudators. They do it alot to get different stock in

A few weeks ago I was in the local chemist looking for my favourites, but they didn't have any in stock...so the lady took me out the back and was like, "these condoms are just out of date, take them for free you'll be fine!" I was like, "...do you hate me? What did I ever do to you? You get a kick from seeing pregnant teenage girls pregnant don't you!!!!"

Free condoms in the SU lads (and lassies).

There's nothing wrong with free/cheap ones either, they all conform to the same standards.

Also, glow in the dark ftw! http://www.nightlightcondoms.com/

Yes, the free ones work, but is it true that later in the year the SU upgrades to Durex? Call me old fashioned, but I just wouldn't trust condoms that were either flavoured or glowed in the dark.

Are the free ones still Pasante? I've always considered them better than Durex... don't be fooled by advertisements!

Spent the past year using those mojos and I don't have no babies..

My word, this won't go down with the St. Pats peeps at all!

Were they giving out Trojans a few years ago? Something tells me they were and they were so horrible, just yucky.

As for the free ones, they conform to EU standards which are very high standards indeed. As with all condoms kids, if in doubt, pull out!

Yeah I'm the same, I changed to anthropology and still nothing. I want to start catching up as I've already missed a project worth 30% :/ Anyone know what's up or what we should do?
