hello everyone,im looking for a bit of help.

my toshiba l350-171 no longer connects to my broadband through the wi fi.i now have to connect the cable to access the internet.
it only happened the last few days.its been working fine the last 2 years.

any ideas as to what could be causing it.maybe a driver or something?

    thanks.

My toshiba has a physical switch on the front edge.

Tiny, and easily missed. Check do you have one.

We usually get many customers calling for advice on this type of issues, well.. this are few steps you can try :

as you mentioned that your wifi was working for last two years and suddenly if stopped to work, like everybody in this forum said it could be your switch, but using the same laptop for last two years i believe that you very well know how to turn on the wifi switch.

if the switch is on right position, then it could be a third party wifi monitoring program which could be monitoring your wireless networks, like a Toshiba wifi client manager, look for Toshiba client manager or related software applications running on your taskbar (bottom right ) - if you find it then check for the settings.

if still not fixed, the next thing to look for is an antivirus which may have expired recently - if thats the case it could be your antivirus firewall which is blocking the wifi. or a similar third party antivirus or firewall software which you may have installed recently.

still the same.. then the next option is to look for the Microsoft services list within your computer, but unfortunately I won’t be helping you with this as it’s a bit risky to play around that area. so the best option is to perform a system restore to a previous date which you remember the wifi worked (don’t forget to backup your files before you perform a system restore)

if all the above tries failed then my best advice is to take your laptop to your nearest technician so he could check your laptops inbuilt wifi card as well as the switch on your laptop for any hardware failure.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

If thats the case then you may have to reconfigure your network settings,
(if still not resolved by the process mentioned below, let me know what Operating system you are running on your laptop so i could reply you with the right steps to resolve your issue)

    - goto Network and Sharing Center
    - click on Manage wireless networks (to the left under Tasks)
    - remove your network from the list
    - Exit and try connecting to it again. You'll have to put in the password again as if connecting to it for the first time.

    cheers

thanks a million,i done as you said and it done the trick.its workin fine now.i carried it to a local computer store and they wanted to wipe the computer clean and reset it.i thought that was a bit drastic, considering they on ly spent 30 seconds looking at it.

    thats a relief,no wireless is a nuisance!

    thanks leixlip computers.
