Also was in the Grand Social last night and the music had an awesome range. From the National to Nine inch nails. Was really impressed.

If we went there, we could also go to the gaming centre place around the corner beforehand for a friendly game of something i can win.

Is that genre range or alphabetical?
Cos if it's the latter it's pretty weak...:p

Well you have been to GR.

And a quick google search/trolling through the other thread may help provide opinions on the other ones. They are all good venues for different reasons. Except doyles. Someone needs to burn that place to the ground.

From a purely selfish point of view I'm kinda sick and tired of the bull and Castle. I must have attended 20 beers there with Boards at this point.

I did say most of them...

too much bother to go looking into it.i'll just complain about whatever's picked

For the record i like GR....we are just unsure if we will have to pay in on a saturday night.

    Paying in = noc-bane

Yeah if we're bringing loads of people who're going to drink all night we're not paying in anywhere.

Back when there was boards wide beers, this was a rule, and it's just as valid now.

Why do you guys hate Doyles so much. Seats, good music, central... I can understand people preferring other locations but there's oh so much hate here. I'm confused.

It's fine. A bit of a trek away from any where we shall be drinking though.

    ahaha. the reviews are terrible.

    lawl
I went into the bathroom in the basement level, the mens room was being used as a drug den, so I went to the womens room. One toilet spewed black water, one toilet didnt have a seat, and a couple was copopulating in the last one. I was doing this because the one in my room was worse...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,924 ✭✭✭✭RolandIRL

i don't fancy a bit of a walk tbh. reviews are funny though :D
the bus stops in Burgh Quay somewhere. i'm terrible with dublin. i've google maps open in one tab looking all these places up

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,762 ✭✭✭✭stupidusername

whitey the one i stay in is on bachelors walk, which is just off o connell st, very central. it'd probably be 18 at the weekend though.

Bitter experience has taught me that when it comes to hostels, always pay the extra tenner for the one with the good review.

booked my bus last night. only cost €2 for a return :D

Shweet. Any update on where you will stay? If others are going too it might be good to have a group. Hell, id consider it too cause a hostel is cheaper than taxi and sometimes the bus too....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,924 ✭✭✭✭RolandIRL

haven't a clue yet where to stay. still looking at hostels.

That avalon place you asked about is fine btw....its not next door to the venues, but its down the road. 5 minute walk max. Let me know anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,924 ✭✭✭✭RolandIRL

i've plenty of time to book it. i'll get it done this week anyway. there was a place i stayed before for a concert, but i can't remember the name of it. all i remember is that it was about a 10 min walk from croke park and all the dorms were named after rivers of ireland (ie boyne suite etc). anyone know the name of it?
