Recommendation for knee surgeon

    Hello.

I damaged my lateral collateral knee ligament last year. I've had physio, did lots of stretching, have done rehab work, got orthotic insoles to try and correct the constant niggle in my knee. nothing really working to improve it.

Not looking for medical advice, but i have to have a scan and probably an operation on my knee after.

Want to get it sorted properly, so I can return to playing sport.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good knee surgeon?

I got my ACL done by Ray Moran in Santry. Very good surgeon, down to earth and very easy to talk to. The surgeon is definitely important, however its your own attitude and commitment to recovery that will be the biggest factor.

also Maurice Neligan in the beacin is very good.

as vorenus said it comes down to the aftercare and physio

Get the scan done first to confirm it's torn, it may not be and treatments such as prolotherapy and ART might resolve it

MRI done. Have some tendonitis under (outside) the knee and a small cartilage tear.
I've been recommended to get a Cortisone injection or two to see if it will relieve/sort out the problem
failing that, it'll be keyhole surgery.

Can a cortisone injection sort out something like that?

got an injection of cortisone into the knee joint and into the lateral collateral ligament

have been told to rest for a week

the knee feels a lot stiffer today, it that normal??
should i have taken a week off work (I do a lot of walking and standing up) to allow the knee to settle down???

You should do whatever the doctor who administered the treatment told you to do.

It is againest the forum charter to give medical advice, I am going to have to lock this thread. You got your reccomendation, it can't really go any further than that.
