Tuesday 24th May--performing their self titled Mercury award winning debut
    Wednesday 25th--performing Dog Man Star
    Thursday 26th--performing Coming Up

Cant wait for this.Been a huge Suede fan since I was a teenager.
And seen them live every time theyve played over here.
Wont be able to afford all 3 nights though so what you reckon--which one will be the best night..Im leaning towards Dogman Star myself as its still a regular on my mp3 playlist....Decisions,decisions!!

What would your favourite Suede album be to hear live.

How much are tickets? Gonna try get to them all, although if I could do without one of the nights, it would be DogManStar, as when I saw them in The Ambassador in 2003, they played 6 or 7 from that one

Manics in the Olympia that week too, gonna be MENTAL :D

    1. Dogmanstar
    2. Suede
    3. Coming Up

Trying to justify the expenditure is a problem.
Might do the Tuesday but definately the Wednesday.

Was so happy when I heard this yesterday. My favourite band of all time without a doubt. Dog Man Star is definitely the one I'm looking forward to most. Every single song (bar black and blue) an absolute classic. The only possible way they could have made this album any better in my opinion is if they had put in Killing of a Flash Boy instead of Black and Blue.

Really hope they play a few of the Dog Man Star/Stay Together B-Sides as well actually. Really looking forward to this. Getting goosebumps just thinking of the ten plus minutes where they'll be playing Asphalt World followed by Still Life. Thought they may have been playing the festivals this year and was all set to go but this will be so much better.

My order of preference for the gigs would probably be the same as the majority of Suede fans: Dog Man Star--Suede--Coming Up, but all three nights will be excellent.

Fourth night added: Sci-Fi Lullabies! :D

    (Not really, regrettably)

2025 Gigs and Events: Stuart Murdoch, Lyle Lovett, Camera Obscura, The Corrs/Imelda May/Natalie Imbruglia, Olivia Rodrigo, Iron Maiden, Neil Young/Van Morrison, Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey, Weezer, The Doobie Brothers, Billie Eilish (x2), Oasis, Sharon Van Etten, The Human League, Deacon Blue, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (x2), Nerina Pallot

Gonna be expensive and also during college final year exams but I'll probably go for Dog Man Star and Suede and skip the third night.

They'll likely play the hits of Coming Up anyway on both nights so I don't feel like paying 50 quid to hear Lazy.

You're in for disappointment if you expect them to play the Coming Up hits during the Suede and Dog Man Star evenings. Not gonna happen. If they play any extra non album songs over the first two nights they'll be B-sides from the album in questions time.

Disagree Pighead, I'm certain it will be an album in full and a 10 or 15 song greatest hits set covering their entire career

If you look at the setlist from the ICA album shows way back in 2003 it appears they played the full album first and then a 9 or 10 song encore that was a mixture of b sides and singles.

First Irish gigs in 8 years, we'll be paying through the arse for the privilege too, so I can't see them bogging down the 2nd half of their set with b-sides and obscurites at the expensive of the bigger singles

Playing their B-Sides would hardly be bogging down the set in fairness. Suede are renowned for producing fantastic B-Sides and any Suede fan i know would be more than delighted to hear the likes of Killing of a Flash Boy, Europe is Our Playground or Whipsnade during the Dog Man Star Gig. If I want to hear the hits of Coming Up I'll go to the Coming Up gig on the Thursday evening.

I doubt it. I'd say they'll follow a model similar to the Pixies when they toured Doolittle in 2009.

    Got tickets for Wednesday. Sweet.
If I get cash I may get Tuesday tickets too.
Defo won't miss Thursday. The only tracks I really like from Coming Up are Chemisty Between Us and Saturday Night.

Going on Thursday although it was a tough call - 3 great albums.

Does anyone remember seeing them in the Olympia years ago and it was filmed for MTV Live at the time - an amazing gig from what I saw would loved to have been there?!

I vaguely remember being at a Suede gig around 10 years ago in the Olympia but young, stupid and drunk so don't remember dates.
I do remember the drummer taking a stroll around the back bar and chatting with everyone, signing stuff and drinking pints.
Now that I think about it, I think I may have my ticket signed by him. Will have to check when I go home now.

Pretty sure that was in the Tivoli not the Olympia. I won tickets for it on the Dave Fanning show! But yeah it was a cracking gig.

Could have sworn it was the Olympia! Ah well it sounded amazing! Think it was around 1997/98?

It was 96. few vids up on youtube of it. Here's the monster that is Killing of a Flash Boy. Picture and sound not great unfortunately.

Seen them in The Tivoli in 1996, Live for MTV's Live & Direct, then have seen em twice since, SFX in 97 i think? and also Dublin 2003 Ambassador, Now I would LOVE to head along to all 3 nights, and will be at least 2, BUT have my tickets for the 'Coming Up' Night as it's just a treasured favorite of mine, I ADORE that album & The Memories associated with it & when it was released etc, So that's why That night was a Must BUT Suede & Dogman star, Gonna have to choose between them or hopefully go to BOTH :p

The SFX was '95, touring Dog Man Star (part of Richard Oakes first dates with the band).

First Suede gig this evening. Playing the Suede album in full as well as a few B-Sides. They played their three albums over three nights last week in London. Here's the three setlists. For all the ninnys out there DON'T CLICK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT THEY'RE PLAYING!

I voted "Coming Up" purely for the sake of "By The Sea." Possibly the most sumptuous song ever recorded! :D

Can anyone tell me what time Suede came on stage last night? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 neilo2009

They came on at around 9.15. Great performance from the band, think Brett was a bit unhappy with the lack of people in the top circle, he was pointing at it to someone off stage before they walked onstge. We were seated in the mid circle and that was about 2/3 full by the end. Wish they'd played High Rising though....

    Setlist:

    So Young
    Animal Nitrate
    She's Not Dead
    Moving
    Pantomime Horse
    The Drowners
    Sleeping Pills
    Breakdown
    Metal Mickey
    Animal Lover
    The Next Life

    Encore:
    My Insatiable One
    To the Birds
    Trash
    Beautiful Ones

Absolutely fantastic, brett's voice was very strong and clear and he was giving it socks, great showman. Crowd was muted by you could tell that everyone was really enjoying it. Best gig ive been to in a while. Set list was same as what someone has previous posted from setlist.com

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,269 ✭✭✭kc66

Great gig. Powerful voice. I don't know why Suede aren't more popular. A lot of empty seats in the circle. I thought Neil Codling was going to fall asleep mid-song a few times though.

Magical gig last night. Definitely not a band going through the motions. Bretts voice in great shape, Richard throwing plenty of shapes. Asphalt World solo was perfection. Neil as has been mentioned was stauesque.

Setlist slightly different to London. Think the encore went:

    Whipsnade
    Killing of a Flash Boy
    So Young
    Metal Micky
    Animal Nitrate

May be missing a song there though.

This might explain the above taken from Wiki: His last appearance with Suede was in the Iceland Airwaves Festival on 21 October 2000. On 23 March 2001, it was announced that Codling had quit Suede, due to his Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

The circle was only 20% full at best last night.
    Downstairs was fairly rammed.

I have to say I preferred Tuesdays gig than last nights.

Highlights of Tuesday - To the Birds
Highlight of Wednesday - We Are the Pigs

    Brett is still rocking.

Still debating on doing the hattrick tonight for Coming Up...

I would, be a shame to miss the final night (although you might have heard most of the songs by now ;)). I'm only going to tonights gig but well looking forward to it.

What a gig, to be honest i felt i was at the Beatles in the sence the first 3 songs felt like they played the chorus only and then it was over, 'I wanna hold hold handdddd...ticket to ridddeee you get the picture, Trash,Flimstar and Lazy felt like 1minute hits :)
Brett is drinking George Harrisons beer (anybody who watches True Blood i.e. Bill Compton) will know what i mean.
    loved the show :D

Great gig last night! Although, it flew by! I think they were only on for just over an hour! They sounded great though! They left one song out of the encore from what I could see what was printed on the set-list - "Stay together".

Highlights were all the hits from "Coming Up". Then "So young", "New Generation", and "animal nitrate" for the encore. Oh and "Europe is our playground". We were standing in front on the mixing desk and there was some bass that was coming from the stage/speakers for that song!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,417 ✭✭✭Miguel_Sanchez
