Dropped my laptop earlier and alas the screen broke :( Pcworld quoted me €300 to replace it (Which i can't afford) but brokenscreen.ie have offered me a courier service to collect and drop back my laptop and to fix the screen for €149

Just want to make sure the site is legit really before I courier it off to who knows who.

    Thanks :)

OP I'm sure it's legitimate, it's the big companies charging extortionate prices that make guys like brokenscreen.ie seem like you might be getting a lesser service. €149 is a perfectly fair price, especially including courier service.

    Ger,

Your prices look good (at least in lotusflower's case) but why to you need to know my name, address and telephone number to display a price on a webpage?

    Hi Shayser,

we dont list pricing online as screen prices vary from machine to machine, depending on size and type of screen. Most people know there LCD and LED style screens, the LCD generally being more expensive but there is more to it than that. Newer laptops are more and more being fitted with ultra thin LED screens and these are more costly. Dell screens normally have be specifically coded to work properly and these screens again are a little more expensive than normal screens. We do offer more popular screens at prices lower than the €149 quoted above, but the best way for us to give you an exact price is by checking each laptop spec manually and returning with a quote on a case by case basis.

If you need a price on a screen you can ring us, and once its not unusual we can give it to you over the phone but we do prefer customers using the quote system as the best way for us be gather all the info we need.

I hope this explains things a bit better.

    Ger

No we are brokenscreen.ie and are based in Cork City Centre, a bit of a distance from Lucan. We only use new screens. Even though we are based in Cork City Centre we do offer a national service through a collect and return service.

Our contact number is 021 425 16 40 (Cork number)
We operate from a business premises in Cork City Centre

We are in business since 2005 and have never been based anywhere but the same location in Cork

    http://www.brokenscreen.ie/contact.html (Address etc)

A quick look at your site and I determined your based from most likely a home address
    2 Riverwood Green
    Carpenterstown
    Dublin 15

Im surprised at the last post (repairmypc) that as a competitor of ours that you wouldn't have checked our location details which are easily available on our website to determine where we are based rather asking a question that seems to be more designed as an attempt to damage the reputation our business with no just cause.

    Lotusflower
    I've just checked wholesalers for your screen which is 13.3" screen? If that is the case then you are getting a fantastic deal from Brokenscreen, with courier costs and screen cost included I reckon Brokenscreen are only making €10-€20 for fitting the screen...so I'd say jump on that offer mate and let us know how you get on (-;

I dropped my laptop and shattered the screen - broken screens in Cork said they would do it for €130 - they picked it up and fixed it in one day and dropped it back again...screen is as good as new - I couldn't believe how fast and efficient these guys are!!!

    Great Service...

Just to add my 2 cents - I'll vouch for em, I've gotten 2 laptops sorted in the cork one and I'd recommend them.

There were pricier than if I'd bought the screen off ebay and fitted it myself (I think they charged 150 and I could have got the screen for 100 or thereabouts) but changing lcd's can be tricky and it's way too easy to make a balls of it so for ease of mind figured twas worth the extra few quid.

The amount of virtually new accounts/low postcounts in this Thread and in the linked Currys one would raise eyebrows.

I'm locking this thread due to its age, and also as this isn't the consumer issues forum.
