    that you never envisaged happening?

    For me,

    1. I got made redundant (I seriously thought I was safe!) :D

    2. I got back with an ex from many years ago and split again (never go back, never, ever).

    Positive

    1. Am using my time off work to fulfil a long-held dream of scriptwriting. I never thought I'd actually do it!!!

I got engaged! My OH was never in to the idea of getting married but he changed his mind over the last year.

I found a job that I really like - didn't think that would ever happen :)

Are you posting that on purpose to make me feel worse?

Positive- I got cats! Always hated the little fuc*ers, and now I'm in love :)

Not so positive- I got diagnosed with MS completely out of the blue and then my body fell apart. Off work now almost 6 months but things are looking up and hope to go back soon.

Edit- "Hoping to go back to work"! Never thought that'd happen either :)

I made my girlfriend pregnant. I was always convinced that I couldn't have kids...mainly because of an old compaq laptop that used to rest on my lap and rise to temperatures not dissimilar to the sun. She's due in one month :-)

I've also become disillusioned with the industry I've worked in for the past 10 years. People will use you and build you up, and then rip you off.

I finally got around to getting a provisional drivers licence.

Nothing much exciting has happened to me so far, but Im very content with how everything is at the moment anyways :)

Got into a pretty bad car crash, which I was lucky to come away from in one piece.

    Met someone I really like.

    Up-and-down really.

in a really bad car crash. well, depends on how you define bad, car was destroyed/had to be cut out, we were fine

got a christmas job (first job ever!)

finished editing a novel (now, to find someone to hand me bags and bags of money for it) and started another

    everything else was pretty mundane.

Got a new job and was made permanent recently, delighted is not the word, but my fella's industry is fecked and he's not getting the contracts in, so he's moping and a bit disillusioned to be honest, so yeah it has been up and down!

    Negetive:
1 - My ex decided he hated me so much that he made my life unbearable. So nasty I didn't ever think there was a way out from it.

2 - My dog who was my boy and my best friend, had to be put to sleep. RIP baby <3

    3 - I turned 22. 'Nuff said.

    Positive:
1 - I realised how much time I had been wasting over people who didn't matter and who were just dragging me down.

2 - I cut the negetive people out of my life.

3 - Despite being 22, I can honestly say I had the best year -- and its because I changed things for me, thanks to the nasty ex. So I suppose he done me a favour.

4 - Got my dream job and loved it until I went back to college.

5 - Started a new course which I love and for the first time in my life, I'm excelling at something positive.

    and the best?

6 - My baby is due in June and I could not be any happier.

    In the last year.....

Not a huge amount actually, thank jaysus. NO major tragedies or disasters.

    Turned 30 (that's a biggy I suppose)
Saw one of my best friends get married
Fell for a guy who only wanted to be shag buds and went through major disappointment. Really read the situation completely wrong.
Decided to move from Spain to South America....then recently changed my mind again. I'm staying putt for the time being and I'm very happy here.
Spanish getting better bit by bit.
Found out brother and sister-in-law having a baby...but they live in the States...too far away!

Just to add, went on a date last night with a guy who I thought I wouldn't like that much but fancied. We had a great night. Incredibly nice guy and super brainy and sexy. He's a physicist! Mmmm brains...

    Passed my driving test.
    Got a car.
Graduated with B.sc. (Hons) in IT for business.
    Trained in my young horse.
    Competitions this year.
Got a class job with new company.
Job ended last June. (I did enough to get the company off the ground)

So really it went up up UP and down with a bang.

Fell in love with my girlfriend again...had spent the last while just kinda going through the motions but the thought of losing everything we had made me wake up and realise how lucky I am.

Watched in amazement as my son went from baby who couldn't sit upright to a fearless toddler with an unnatural obsession with wrestling.

Also started college...it has its downside because it keeps me away from the two of them all day but hopefully I will be able to provide them with a better lifestyle once its over.

    -Long term crazy spell
    -Performed a God-like miracle and got a 1.1 degree
-Fell out with my best friend
-Did some serious addressing of all my problems and sorted my head out, mostly...
    -Couple of new haircuts
    -Found a great new boyfriend
-Starting plans to stop being lazy and do something good with my life
    -Many, many drunk nights

Happy days right now when I thought I was at the edge of the world never to return :) (bit sickening, I know)

No, I had very very long hair for years and years, and now its pretty short. It was a big deal for me.

    Negetive:

40 I'd understand, even 30... but I'm absolutely stumped as to what could be so devastating about being 22...

I had really long hair up to a few months ago too and got it cut, but not short - so much easier to manage, but I miss the long hair. Growing it back.

Resolved to get fit in January 2010, actually stuck to my guns and lost just over 2 st by years end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭Gi joe!

Came down with depression, so 2010 was pretty much the worst year of my life.

At least I managed to get through the college year, and keep in contact with those who matter to me.(They knew something was up but no one knows the full story expect one girl and my family.)

Although so far this year I've passed my driving test, am starting a personal training course at the end of the month and have gone cold turkey off my medication for the past week(feeling dizzy but fine!)

Some bad stuff has happened also naturally, like getting rejected from my crush, but at least I'm TRYING things now, whereas fear stopped me in the past.

Wish me luck that I can keep it going! :)

Threw a wobbler and quit my crappy job. Now on the dole

I also broke up with my GF of 4 years. I'm 22 and single, Its.....Interesting. I was suprised I wasn't more upset about it. I'm still waiting for a nervous breakdown where I stagger down cameden street on my own at 2am with a bottle of buckfast screaming "FOUR FCUKING YEARS" at random people.

Tiny ups and tiny down. Nothing major :)

    Positives;

    Got my degree
Started a hobby which has lead to me starting my own business
Realised that negative people shouldn't be in your life, they only bring you down

    Negatives;
Lost my life long friend to cancer at 24. Something I and others close to him still battle with. I still can't believe it.

    Mixed emotions;
Lost my grandmother after a long battle with an illness, however she wasn't in pain and went in her sleep. I'm happy she wasn't in pain, sad that she's gone.

    27th April 2010
Dumped my spineless lying cheating boyfriend of 3 1/2 years for cheating again
Left my full time job :(
Moved to my home town because I couldn't bear to see him and his many many w*ores

    July 2010
Buried a friend who was killed in a crash :(

Then I realised life is wayyyy too short

    Sept 2010
Moved back to the town I left originally
Started a night course in college that I love!! :D

    Nov 2010
Got the best job I have ever worked in!!! Only a couple of days a week but it keeps me going :D

    April 2011
Have lost nearly 2st since last April and I look and feel amazing!! :D:D
    Got my confidence back!!! :D:D
Had to ask my boss for a smaller uniform!!! :D (He said he noticed I had lost more since I started didnt know how I would react if he said it to me!!! :p)
Moving into a house with friend that is half as mad as me!!! :D:D

2011 is going to be my year regardless of not having enough money to do the extras, but I have my health and I actually feel like I have turned my life around and after loosing all that weight I actually want to go looking for a bikini this year!! (even if it will only be in the back garden!!!!)

I can safely say 2010 was by far the worst year of my life so far. Who cares about the economy when you know someone close to you is dying from cancer for instance? It's terrible what some people have to go through, really. Wonder what the next few years has in store...
