    Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience working in Accenture, as part of the grad programme?

I'm thinking about applying for the Technology Consulting side of it - but not sure what the day-to-day job would entail, what they are like to work for, etc.

I applied for the strategy side of their graduate programme and I was instead offered to pursue the technology side but declined as I didn't feel I had the technical background. I had a friend who worked for them and he said that the hours were long and he left after a year to work at microsoft. There are a lot of posts on boards.ie about them and some are not so flattering.

You have probably seen them but here are the links anyways.

or just type in accent graduate programme.

Anyways, a job is a job and if you feel you can stick the hours I would say that accenture is a great place to start and it would look great on the CV for future jobs.

    I hope that helps.

Currently just going past the year 1 mark on a Grad programme in a company that would have similar hours to Accenture and it seems to be the that for the vast majority of these companies long hours are expected, I'm pretty much hitting 55 on average but the work is there and has no sign or drying up so compared to a mundane 9 to 5 clock watching I'd know which one I'd prefer.

Got booted after the first round interview with Accenture last year, chased them for feedback but didn't get it hence they're in my black book ;)

I have heard a lot of bad things about them. Around long working hours/ lots of pressure, but its good experience and is more suited to a grad rather than someone who is married with kids. I would take it if you got offered, you can always move if you dont like it.

I got a job with Accenture Technology Solutions, and a few weeks later took a better all round job. I would have stayed if I didn't get the other offer...

My reasons for not taking it: The interview process seemed to take forever, as well as interviews kept getting cancelled sometimes only the day before... I had to travel from Cork so it wasn't nice. It took almost 3 months in total. The other company had me interviewed 5 times in the one day, and I had the job pretty much a few days later.
However, it may be a different experience for others.

Also, alot of the employees are outsourced to the company I currently work for.... so I'm glad in that respect that I said no!

When I did pull out of the offer, I'm not sure the HR person was all that happy... but strangely it's like she expected it!

The experience there would be beneficial... but you may be outsourced alot, and preferably, I just prefer to be full time employee in a company rather than a contracter.

    Best of luck!

I filled in an application for them a couple of months ago, and I heard absolutely nothing back at all from them. Not even a "we got your application" email.

Thought it was weird, because their whole set up is so touchy feely and decided that maybe I was better off, though I'm rethinking that now. But is there any point in re-applying?

I had a first interview for the technology consulting position last week, still waiting to hear back. Getting nervous!

I actually hadn't even filled in my application online fully at the time, I wasn't going to bother either as I was so sick of getting told I hadn't been successful. Then I get an email from the HR woman asking if I was still interested, and if so, to complete the online application fully. The next day she offered me an interview. Be positive - reapply... as far as I'm concerned if you know what you're talking about, you are guaranteed a job!

I didnt get it unfortunately. I know someone who got a job there last week but she had special circumstances to get the second round interview since she did placement there.

I've been told there is a major backlog in their HR department though. Another buddy of mine did his interview around the same time as you but is still waiting to hear back too.

Best of luck with it anyway!
