    Hi all
Going to buy an iMac tomorrow just wondering where the best place to buy one would be
I know there was a new model released recently I assume these are in store now
Also can anyone confirm that they are the same price in store as on the apple website
    Thanks :)

Compub, pc world, Harvey Norman sell them.
Adverts is worth a try as well, there's a few nice iMacs for sale on there at the moment and you might save a couple of euro as well.

Just double check the specs and price to the Apple store, just in case, otherwise enjoy.

I brought the print out of the app store specs with me and one shop was trying to sell me the older model for the same price , power city had none in stock but on their system the new model was priced at 1229
I got it for 1149 new model in currys ( well currys had to get it from pc world next door lol) so I'm happy

How do you get the educational discount?

If you are in a university you can usually get the AOC discount by going through your college network.

Any student who is considering getting a Mac should hold off for another week. Apple's Back to School promotion is starting soon, probably Wednesday. Buy an iPod with a Mac and you get the cost of the iPod (minus VAT) rebated back.

I bought a refurbished mac off the site and got way better specs then I ordered

Luck of the draw but it happens

If you or your parents are registered for VAT, use the VAT number for the purchase
You still pay the full price but you can claim back at a later date

What's with the recommendations to evade tax?!

My imac is used for farm accounts among many other things :)

    No evasion here

Is there anything to stop me buying a Mac at an educational price by buying it through my sister who is at college? Also, is there much of a discount on them. That page just hangs when I try to check the student prices.

If she's the one paying for it, no. They may look for student ID though. However, if you are putting her name down and paying with your credit card, there might be an issue with them accepting payment. I don't know tbh.

The regular student discount on hardware is about 7 percent. The AOC discount for university students is 10 percent.

So you have to pay for the iPod when making the order? Bleh, a friend had told me that you get the iPod free (rather than pay for it then get the money back later) with that particular student offer :(

I was keen on getting a new MP3 player (since I'll be getting a MBP anyway), but now I'm not sure if I'll have gathered the money to avail of the promotion, in time for college.

Fatcheese apply the education discount to all orders - no extra code needed.

I know it's too late for the OP but I've bought my 2 off Apple directly as you can customise them by adding memory or whatever.

Just checked out the price on the 21.5" i7 iMac and I could get €165 off - 10% - using my sisters student discount. I'm tempted! Still a lot of money though!

The Apple store is handy for refurbs, but I have had nothing but good experience with Compu B. You can walk out of the shop Mac in hand (if they have it in stock obviously).
