Seen this on Setanta Ireland's Twitter. Thought a few people might like this, especially with the Football season starting.

Seems like a decent price considering they have a match every week AFAIK & show loads of Man U/Liverpool games....
Exclusive offer for our loyal Facebook fans who are Irish Satellite viewers. We are offering 3 months at €8.49 per month with no connection fee. First 100 callers on 0818 20 30 40 to quote ‘Andy Carroll’s ponytail’ will be eligible

I assume you mean the football season in the UK? Because the Irish season has been going since March.

This is an Irish site so might be best to clarify what football you are referring to when it's not your own national league.

I'm from Ireland. I got what he meant.

OP, good luck canceling from Setanta.

I tried cancelling from them last year after my old housemate moved out. On the same call I upgraded my basic package to the one that has EPSN, effectively swapping Setanta for ESPN and a dozen other channels for the same price.

They managed to upgrade my basic package but neglected to turn off Setanta. This was despite me making a point to the agent that she was definitely, 100% sure it would be cancelled.

    Be very careful.

The OP mentioned Liverpool/Man U, so it's fairly obvious which league was being discussed :)

I rang up today as I thought like 3 lads in my job Id get it for 5 euro a month,
All I want it for is the Saturday game,

What a bunch of complete and utter idiots....

First I got held for about 8 minutes with the same message over and over..
Then the girl asked me to speak slower as she couldn't understand me(fair enough)
Then she said there was no offers available at the moment..I told her I had got a letter in the door and it said quote 2011,she told me there's no such offer..

I asked to speak to somebody else...

then a bigger fool got on the phone and said it would be 17 euro a month and theres no offers at the moment

No wonder the company went down the swanny

I hung up and am now glad I didn't subscribe

Did you ring the number on the offer? I rang on wednesday, no wait and spoke to a scottish lad who set it up pretty quickly. had to ring back a while later and got through straight away again to same scottish call centre.

If you do it online and put your promo code in '2011' you get 'Two months viewing for the price of one means it’s just €8.49 per month for the first two months with a reduced online connection fee of €9.99. Regular price is €16.99 per month thereafter'

Will cancel it after the first two months...

Had Setanta until May and even at €8.49 its not worth it .Pure waste of money for one EPL game on a Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭dave13

But good value if you want to be able to record all the Rugby world cup games in English on Sky

I had Setanta and cancelling it was a nightmare, took me 2 months, dozens of emails and phonecalls to Setanta. I ended up having to contact my credit card company and go down the chargeback route. Had to print off all my emails and send them to the bank. NEVER AGAIN.

Ive had Setanta Ireland and Setanta 1 for the last 9 months free of charge, I won a 12 month subscription on twitter from them last October, I haven't watched either of them that much to be honest, I think there were 4 or 5 Man Utd games on there last season, doubt Ill sign up to them after Oct.

I have to disagree with you on that one, there was no way that Man Utd had 12 games last season on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm, a large percentage of uniteds games were moved for TV ie, Sky and ESPN.

FA Cup games that were shown on Setanta here were also shown on ITV and ESPN, so they may have been exclusive in Ireland but as you can see, were available on other channels.

I seriously thing their service is way over priced for 2 channels, well actually one in our case as we get Setanta Ireland included with our basic UPC sub.

I just finally cancelled with them after approx. 18mths on the €5pm An Post offer ... usually when you ring to cancel they offer to extend your current deal for another 3 months , this time they tried the hard sell about all their "new content - World Cup Rugby, FA Cup, Europa League etc" for 16.99pm ... I said "no thanks" - then they offered me the 3 months @ €8.49 pm but I still no thanks ...

Got a call this evening from Setanta offering me 3 months at €8.49pm. I have Setanta Ireland with my UPC, so won't ever be going back to them to pay €16.99:eek:
