I know a few guys who stayed up three days in a row in order to party.

    That's Success.

That depends on your definition of 'success' but it's definitely and achievement!

The guy giving the speech is Eric Thomas if anyone fancies a google. The music and montage make this clip awesome though.

Inspirational video of Dan "The Raspberry Ape" Strauss who has qualified for the ADCC this weekend (like the World Cup of grappling). Really impressive to see what guys at this level put themselves through to achieve their goals.

i'm quite unimpressed with that video.
Started well enough but that ****e about no sleeping.

Any success I've had is massively helped by the fact that I've had a decent nights sleep.

I'll give up a party or a meal out for success but cos I eat and sleep I'll always turf in a better shift that anybody who trains or works like that. Cos I sleep and eat with dedication shows that I want success more.

    50cent is pretty **** too....

I've honestly always thought that any given sunday speech was a bit trite.

I’ve been told its a good idea to start a speech with a joke. Well don’t get your hopes up, I’m not here to tell jokes. I’m here to pick a fight. I’m here to pick a fight with second place. I have as much patience for second place as I do for flies in my soup! But maybe you like flies in your soup, maybe you like second place, maybe you like that “you gave it your best better luck next time” malarkey they spoon feed runner ups......

    You vs Them

I know what you're saying and you're right. But if you try not to take the literal meaning, it's grand. I just take it as you have to be ready to go without something you love (i.e. Coke) in order to be successful.

In case anyone doesn't know, that speech actually has nothing to do with sport or fitness. It was a speech given to a bunch of college (I think) students.

Correct. If you think he means that you SHOULDN'T sleep you've missed the point. He's saying that sacrifices, dedication and focus is needed.
