Report on anouther site that EK are about to ask EI to handle there flights? Anyone shine any light on it.

Servisair have won the contract to handle for EK at DUB. They will be looking after ramp and cargo. Deal announced yesterday.

Don't want to cast doubt but do you have a link to a story on that. I heard (and trust) the news about ServisAir doing the handling but haven't actually seen a press release on it.

I have heard that they will use the EI lounge and EI will cater them.

EDIT: Thanks for the clarification below Sharkman

No press link , However as my wife is on the management team in Servsair The info is 100% , They will be using the DAA loungeand AFAIK Gate Gourmet will cater.

According to airlineroute on twitter, Emirates have shelved plans to operate the A340-300 on the DXB-DUB from 28th OCT 2012.

The A330 is due to go off their fleet by then , perhaps they will operate the 777.

Correct on the Catering front , first time in a long time Aer Lingus have catered for another airline.

Monday the 9th. Funny seeing the Emirates logo on the FIDS around T2 for the last couple of days. Phantom flight(EK9998 for those interested) for testing purposes as well as a couple of check-in desks being prepped. Going by the test they'll be checking in beside CO,where AA where last year.

I think Emiratres are going to start phasing out their -200s soon, these have been with the carrier since 1996!

Of course, they wont use the 200LR's, not feasible.

We could get lucky and see a variety of aircraft as they phase out/restructure their fleet.

Wiki shows EK as having 8 A343, 3 B772, 6 B772ER, all marked as to be phased out in 2012or to be phased out for the Boeings.

    In the near future EK will only operate A332, A345, B772LR, B773ER, A350, A380.

Are they getting a fixed stand like Eithiad on 410?

I was asking around in work about this today but no clear answer. I believe they're giving over half of the Slaney bar to EK/DAA dignitaries on Monday which would lead me to believe that they'll be on one of the stands on the cargo side of Pier E(gates 407 - 425). That would allow the hob nobs to look out at the aircraft on stand whilst they quaff some champers.

My guess is they'll get gate 411,almost opposite 410 where EY operate from. EI generally get 407 for all the LHR flights and EK's A330 would take 409 out of the equation.

Would be nice to see a 772LR, just love the raked wings!

Given the level of advance bookings, especially in Y and J, it looks like it will go to a 77W in October.

The talk around work today is that they will upgrade the aircraft in the future, obviously depending on how successful the route is. As for the type of aircraft they will change to it could go either way, 777 or 340. Nobody knows at this stage. One thing is for sure they're not here on a jaunt, they're serious about making Dublin a success for them.

Flew from Abu Dhabi to Dublin with EY last Wednesday and the flight was jammed, could only see 2 available seats in Economy. Many of the passengers seemed to be travelling onwards to US (I would guess at 50%).

I would also guess that this is where Emirates see the opportunity on the route but all in all in should mean a small price war between Emirates and Etihad for UAE passengers going to and returning from the US.

The might even have a bidding war over Aer Lingus!!
