Best Method of Interval Recovery?

This has been brought up in logs before but don't think we've ever dedicated a thread to it. Be interesting to see what thirtyfoot etc think as well.

What is the best way to spend your recovery period when running intervals? Or does it even matter? I always jog it and would have thought that active recovery is a much better way to spend it than standing around pretending you're stretching.

I'd get a kick up the arse if I stopped and stood around before starting the next rep.

A real good recovery is to walk with hands on back of the head and take in as much oxygen as you can. Then jog for 50 metres before you start the next interval.

Like AR, I normally just keep walking hands behind head getting the breathing under control....

My coach had me walking until the HR had dropped back to 130 (I think), then jogging slowly.

Does anyone take any specialise drinks for recovery or is this part of a money scam?

ANYTHING that has the words "sports" on the packaging is part of the money scam

Recovery should be jogging really, but sometimes thats impossible if your on your 5th rep of mile repeats and are in a heap. But its a good habit to get into rather than standing around for 90 seconds waiting for the next rep.
Recovery drinks are brilliant in some ways and rubbish in others. They are great for after a sunday long run because your getting some much needed vitamins, protein, amino acids etc into you, 10 mins after finishing when the thought of food turns your stomach. That been said natural ways of replenishing the stores is that best and most healthy way of getting that recovery going
