I am looking for some recommendations for a stand alone code reader. I am only looking to spend about €60 - 70, other than the basic reading of codes are there any other feature set I should be looking for? I don’t have a laptop or android phone so it needs to be a stand alone unit.

Any recommendations of what and where to buy would be very welcome.

Dunno will you get one to do both.
My friend has a VAG reader, it doesn't like my Focus at all. Won't talk to it.

In that case it will be just for my mondeo

does that work on most cars, including e90 bmws? does it just read and display the code numbers?

Never tried on BMWs. Displays codes, code explanations, live data such as o2, maf, trims etc. Lets you reset the codes too.
Buy oof a decent ebay seller if your getting one there as theres lots of copies out there.
