An Garda Síochána is now preparing a new three year strategy that will cover the period of 2013 to 2015. In preparing this strategy, we are actively seeking the views of those within the communities we serve. We would be grateful if you could spend 10 minutes completing the questionnaire. All responses are anonymous.

Just filled that out, for all the good it will do. Suggested tazers for everyone in the "any other comments" box. ;)

Yeah filled it out too. Human Trafficking got number 1, it's big time on the rise and a terrible thing to do to anybody.

But do you think its a problem that affects our communities much? I know its a big problem and absolutely horrible, but its a pretty small problem for Ireland. I would have ranked public order, and violent crimes near the top.

It's a bigger problem than you would think. The problem is it dose not surface much because it's locked inside circles. It's getting into these circles that is the problem.

There was a BBC programme on it. Lots of girls trafficked from Romania and that part of Europe to Ireland and England for the sex industry or slaves.

Violent crimes came second for me. Public order is another issue, but personally when things get out of hand the Garda are usually quick to deal with it and resolve the situation. Someone calling the Garda 5 times a night because of a few lads having cans on the green dose not rate to high with me, while annoying no one is in immediate danger of been seriously injured. Dose not have to be said if the same bunch of lads decided it be fun to try burn a house down then that would be a priority.

Also, I think some attitude towards the Garda needs to change regarding rape, too many times on this very site. I have read stories of people been raped/sexual assaulted and for what ever reason not wanting to report it.

If they don't want to press charges etc.. Fine, but it should be noted to the Garda regardless, so maybe more support from the Garda on this, more female Garda to deal with it good campaign etc..

My fear with human trafficing is that we are only a short step from seeing our own children trafficked too. The countries these girls come from are usually emerging economies, where people innocently seek to create a better life for themselves and are decieved into entering this country where they are without identity and language, effectively slaves to those who brought them here.
It is a much wider problem in this country than you would expect. Public order is seen as the worst problem here, but in the scheme of things, while it ties up much garda time, it isn't what does so much damage.
Is it acceptable to have hundreds of people unaccounted for in Ireland, being used as slaves in the sex trade?

I just put in the comments box at the end , that i feel like it is the prison service leaving us down moreso than the gardai .

I honestly feel there should be no such thing as early release and prisons should be made a hell of a lot less cushy for repeat offenders.

I think its good to nip public order offenses in the bud, if the gardai dont move on the lads having cans in the green, then the next week some more friends come to join them , then in the winter they might decide to start a small fire to keep themselves warm while out drinking etc . I have seen it spiral out of control personally, to a point where the gardai didnt intervene in months and eventually there was groups of 30-40 in the green area drinking every fri-sat night.

That really isn't the fault of the prison service. They only do what the DoJ tell them to.

    The four that I prioritised:

    1.Violent Crimes
    2.Drugs
    3.Financial Crimes
    4.Human Trafficking.
