As far as I know you are meant to get ~4 weeks notice, unless you're on the cancellation list?

    Hi Anonymous

I have heard they are flying through the tests especially if you are on a cancellation list. They are doing evening tests, and tests on Saturdays too. When did you apply for it?

If you wanted more time to practice then give them a ring! I think you're entitled to cancel twice without loosing your fee.

I'd be a bit p1ssed off it it was me to be honest... 1 day notice  What if you wanted to get a pretest in beforehand!

Really that might explain it so? I applied on the 16th of june, which is roughly 5 weeks ago.

Ya I got a bit of a shock initially, i've been practicing away so im comfortable enough with the driving aspect, even though i haven't even looked under the bonnet or at any theory either! I'll have one more lesson with my instructor tomorrow morning, hopefully it'll be enough :p if not ill throw a fit and demand a free test for next time :pac:

At least you were able to get a last minute lesson!! Make sure to go through the under the bonnet stuff with him/her and go through some of the questions they might ask (you're probably familiar enough with roadsigns, but couldn't hurt to brush up if you still have the book). And if you haven't already been to the test centre I'd ask to go there just so you're familiar with the correct way to get into and out of it.

    The best of luck :)

I had written a big long post but it didn't post correctly again for some reason! Basically good luck tomorrow. Run through rules of the road, hand signals, under bonnet and general controls inside the car. Best of luck and let us know how you get on!

Wish that was true ... Applied for a cancellation in Cavan at the start of June, only got my date set yesterday for August 31, and Cavan is supposed to have a short waiting list... I really wanted to get my test faster than the this but no such luck :(

Best of luck OP.. Having that short of notice isn't the best preparation you could have had but just make the best of it :)

Must be only in some Dublin centres so. I know 2 people who only had to wait 5 -6 weeks from when they applied. My own took 9 weeks so I don't know why there is such variations in the waiting times really.

Sorry to hear that Anonymou. Try not to let it get to you as it was such short notice. He really should have told you why you got the Grade 3's though in my opinion. I know he didn't have to but still....

Ya I would have preferred if he had told me what I had actually done, I'm still wondering as to how I got them, during the test I didn't think i had done anything to merit a grade 3. Ah well it was only my first test and i applied again straight away so hopefully will have better luck next time out :)

Your right ashl they should at least tell you why you achieved a grade 3 fault,
I know i would be raging if they didnt tell me why i got a grade 3 on my test.

Anonamou you say you got a grade 3 at a roundabout? im thinking maybe you pulled out when there wasnt a sufficent gap for you? isnt that a grade 3 fault i think?

Could have been but I can't remember doing that at any stage. Probably makes the most sense as to what might have happened though, obviously need to improve my judgement so :P
