You want Del Boy and Rodney emerging from an exploding Robin Reliant dressed as Batman and Robin? :D

Why do the Brits involve the military in everything they do ? This is a sporting event!

It's more of an Old School Opening Ceremony than the Olympics. Lots of artistic features and specially composed tunes.

The Paralympics has its roots in Stoke Mandeville where injured Soldiers were encouraged to take part in Sports.

Ireland have a good chance of scooping a lot of medals

Setanta has the Paralympics Live every day and will be Free to View (unscrambled), even if you are not a Subscriber.

Channel 4 and More 4 have live coverage and Channel 4 will have 3 additional channels on the Sky EPG (in Ireland and the UK)

And RTE have highlights every night.

That is not the reason though.....they were at the Olympics as well.

    Their Games, their decision.

Better to see them kept busy in London, than off in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Looks like the German dignitary in the audience has taken 'waving' lessons :D

It IS the same guy from the other opening ceremony, isn't it???

The Parade of Nations never really makes for great viewing, to be honest.

Maybe they could show brief clips of some of the countries at the end, like the 'other awards were presented earlier this evening tonight' part of the Oscars'

The 1980 and 1984 Olympic boycotts were a gross intrusion of Politics into a quadrennial Global Festival of Sport and Goodwill and are a shameful legacy of the Cold War.

But they certainly made the Parade of Nations at the Opening Ceremonies go much quicker.

RTE now showing the highlights. Parade is rapid.

Also, Jimmy Magee is commentating who I can love and hate listening to at the same time!

Edit: As quick as it started it's over and there is no more coverage on RTE until a highlights show on Friday (so ignore Thursday) at 22.55.

    Very poor coverage.

    The Parade is over.

And now they have some operatic music to wake everyone up.

The last part was very well done, all about the wonders of science set to music and dance.

It was better than I described it, honestly.

They should set the parade to the Benny Hill theme music and have scantily clad dolly birds pushing the wheelchairs around at a rapid pace, that would have livened it up nicely.
