Audi TT ESP Yaw sensor query.....

OK, I have an intermittent ABS light on my 2001 TT Coupe Quattro (BAM engine, 225bhp).

It has been diagnosed as an ESP Yaw Sensor, which is attached to the rear axle.

Now, the query I have is the part no. The OEM part no is 7H0 907 652A. According to the local main dealer, this part has now been superceded by sensor part no 7PO 907 652A. The difference is a 'P' instead of the 'H' in the part number.

Going further afield, I cannot find any reference anywhere to that 'P' part no. anywhere.

However, I have found multiple references, and both new & used parts on the web for part no 7E0 907 652A - and several list them as being fitted to actual 2001 cars. So, that's an 'E' instead of (dealer-mentioned..) 'P'.

Can anyone shed any light on this - the 'P' part no is €600  the 'E' part no €220 new (ebay) or as little as £40 (ebay, used).

Can anyone shed any light on this ?

I will have a look on etka now. It can be an issue having a different second letter as from what I can gather, it means it is a similar part but maybe for example from an A3 instead of TT. I know with alot of control units, its a non runner anyway.

The 'P' part is not on my out of date system. It would appear that the 'E' part is interchangable with the 'H' part as my system says the E version was dropped on 1/12/05 and to use the H part as replacement although it lists the part as 7H0 907 652 without the letter A at the end.

I would certainly take a punt on the used Ebay replacement @ £40 given the costs you mention for dealer part and the fact that it just seems to be an earlier version of the part you need.

These parts are listed as combi yaw and acceleration sensor. There are sensors listed with the letter J instead of H or E and these are just yaw sensors - no acceleration sensor and these are certainly wrong.

    I would get this
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-TT-ESP-YAW-SENSOR-7E0-907-652-A-/150858165746?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item231fd8edf2

Thanks for that - that's actually the guy I was 'talking' to - so I've gone and ordered it this a.m. anyway - won't be the biggest mistake I ever made if it doesn't work !!

...an ancient thread, but the warning light, much like the 'bad guys', ...haven't 'gone away you know ! '

The latest is that the light is more often off, than on. The sensor I bought above does NOT fit the car, but we have identified that the sensor is at the top of the n.s. A-pillar !! All he did was plug it in & out, and it's stayed of most of the time since.

However, on both my local guy's PC and my Torque app, we are not getting any errors - even when the light IS on ! FFS.

The airbag light however, is now acting up, and is a right royal PITA.

For a start, no-one I've been to has been able to get into the module to reset it. Eventually, I found the module, and took it out, and left it unlugged for a week. We were able to reset it this a.m., but the light is on permanent - error code 00588 is what we're getting which is (allegedly), the 'squib' ?

Any help on any of the above appreciated - NCT in May, so need it sorted.

You didn't have a mild scrape with a house recently? Maybe that caused the problem.

I think the airbag control module is known to fail on these, only fix is a replacement or maybe a refurb.

....is there any way to test it, on the bench ? - it's €469 + VAT for a new one, and I'm not convinced spending that on a hunch is a good way to find out ! Part no on mine is 8N8 909 061 btw - I assume I'm looking at the right part ?

00588 is probably the spiral cable behind the steering wheel.
