Hi. I started a thread a while ago about getting work done on my car and got lots of help. I visited a recommended garage today and it's looking like it won't be worth putting the money into the car. So we are looking at others.

We need a car with a lot of boot space an something that is safe (baby on the way). Our current car is a 2l diesel and we'd like to get a similar size.

With that in mind, we are on our way to see this. http://cars.donedeal.ie/view/7203244
    Hyundai Santa fe

I'd love peoples opinion on it please. Also, I checked on motor tax website and it seems it was re registered a month ago.

We need something new as a matter of urgency as a few issues came up today which would have me question the overall safety of what we are driving. So I'm worried I'm too eager to hop in and buy this.

    Thanks.

How much are you willing to spend?

Something like these would be a much better buy then a Sante Fe imo. 170,000 miles, you'll probably end up spending a lot more money on it. 1750 seems overpriced too.

That wouldn't put me off if it's been properly maintained. We're on our 3rd S60 and the 2 before clocked up 300k each with no issues.

The Santa Fe seller there is dreaming. There is no way a 13 year old petrol Santa Fe with 170k miles is worth anywhere near €1750. I know someone who sold a 2004 petrol one with under 100k miles recently for €2500.

That Santa Fe has an air scoop on the bonnet which pretty much makes it diesel

We'd been looking at santa fe and the cheapest diesel we've seen has been 1500 with no NCT and no Tax. That one has a new NCT and is taxed until september. I thought the price was pretty ok tbh.

Neither of those cars fit our criteria, we need a hatchback or estate, the boot space is for dogs so an enclosed boot is not suitable. Also, we wanted a diesel.

    Thank you though.

Anyway, we bought the santa fe. It seemed to fit exactly what we needed and we got it at a better price so we are happy with it. My OH was fairly enthusiastic about it. He owned one before and liked it. He gave it a quick look over himself. I wanted to pay a mechanic to come out to look at it but he said for the price, it's not worth it. I guess we will see :D

Thanks. Brought it for a long drive today and compared to our last car it's great. Hopefully it's all good and has no major issue we've missed. :)
