A fb post today said that because the walls etc are in terrible condition the renovation might take a long while! Their fb page is a good place to get updates!

Hi guys. Karl here from Coffeeangel.

Our planned extension of our South Anne Street shop has hit a bit of a stumbling block due to the structural condition of the building. Our entire building team was forced to down tools on day 2 of the renovation due to health and safety concerns. On the upside, these issues have to been resolved by the Landlord. But the downside is our 3-4 week turnaround is likely to be impacted.

Structural engineers have been onsite and I have been assured by the Landlord that there are formulating a rescue plan.

I really excited about how the new shop is going to look and we're hoping the addition of seating will allow us to provide a more comprehensive and exciting brewing experience for everyone.

The current delays are extremely frustrating, but I will keep our FB & Twitter pages updated. If anyone local is looking for any brewing equipment or tools, you can still order online and collect free of charge from our shop on Pembroke Street Lower (not sure is I'm allow to post this).

Sorry for the inconvenience folks... Best, K.

In the meantime check out the newly-opened Fika downstairs at 43 Dawson St. It's in the design house or whatever it's called.

I had, I think, the best Americano I've ever had a week or so ago in Coffee Angel on Sth Anne St. Just perfect flavour and temperature.
Also - I loved the paper cup! So pretty.

I think the coffee in coffee angel stands up well against any other place in Dublin to be honest.

I had a lovely Ethiopian espresso in there on Sunday. It had a lovely delicate bergamot like aroma that came through in the cup along with some nice acidity that I can never seem to be able to replicate at home on my Gaggia Classic.

I get a little miffed when I'm asked if I'd like a double or single... who the hell still drinks single shots of specialty coffee these days?!?!

Maybe I'm being really naive here but I presumed they'd be dialed in to get the most out of the double shot and not a single. Maybe they split the shot for two singles but still wouldn't result in getting the best out of the dose. They could also be dialed in for single basket shots but that's extra work to use a different portafilter.

I realise most normal non-third wave coffee shops do singles which is probably a good thing as the double would be twice as bad.

I get confused with the Cappuccino, small or large?

Which is the normal one with the normal double shot of espresso? Regular I guess, usually small in most places I think though I'm never sure.

I like the espresso set in 3Fe, you get half the double shot in espresso and the other half in cappuccino.

It's all first world problems though.

In 'Brother Hubbard' on Capel St there is a helpful sign explaining their policy on Regular and Large. Only difference = more milk :D
