Ebay will not allow Irish people to use Ebay.co.uk

So honestly I am unsure as to where I should even post this so please excuse me for this.

I noticed last month that when using ebay.co.uk I was unable to see the "Item Location" option. When you search for an item it usually comes up on the left hand side. You can select UK, Worldwide etc.
If I go to ebay.ie however it is there. Now I started using the site but the issue is that most HK sellers will advertise to ebay.co.uk and ebay.com not bothering to pay the extra money per item to sell off those sites.
I sell jewelry and the like to earn a lil extra money. However using ebay.ie I can no longer even find these items. Those I do find will have very low numbers of search results when on the UK site I would have 100k results.

I have tested this with my own computer. I only just built it a couple weeks ago so it is not something in the RAM (like ebay suggested). It is not my browser since I tried it in Chrome, firefox, opera and IE.
I asked my partner to use his account and he gets the same issue on a separate comp.
I asked my Irish friends to have a look and they are also getting this issue.
My UK friends of course can use it fine though.

Ebay.ie sucks, it is rarely updated and gets very few results. Surely it is wrong to block Irish people using the UK site?

Imo, EBay gave up on Ireland quite some time ago when they realised there was no way to gain a proper foothold in the Irish market from the likes of Done Deal, Adverts and Co.

Not 100% clear what is happening.

You are putting auctions up yourself but unable to find them on a search on ebay.ie? Can you give a clear example like "I search for XYZ and get no hits on .ie but 40 on .co.uk"

Can you post a link to some of these? or what people should try.

I have often had to use advanced search options to find stuff. I am still astonished at how woefully bad ebay is for searching stuff, they must be losing millions per year in potential extra profit/commission since people simply do not even know the auctions exist.

You could try to use a proxy to get a UK-ip which should give you access to the proper site if you need to

Aye the site failed so badly. That you need to use the UK site anyway and now that option is gone.

I have tried but the proxies I was using will no allow the site to be displayed. It is just plain white.

My apologies I should have been clearer. For the purpose of searching I am looking for "Molex LED". On the Irish site I see this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/anxkolafx7i5blt/1.PNG

However I do the search again and see this on the UK site:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/751nbcsrhibx7ch/3.PNG

When using ebay.co.uk in the past you could set it to show "Worldwide". It would display many more results especially from Hong Kong. On the ebay.ie site I search Molex LED. The first results are all from the UK. I asked a UK friend to check where they get their first results... HK for near 10 pages. The prices are much much cheaper.
For some reason ebay.ie when set to worldwide will only display UK sites.

Use geo-ship.com to search eBay.. It searches every eBay globally and links to the page. It can be messy but I find it good to find stuff I normally wouldn't through .is or .co.uk

What a fantastic site! Thank you very much for the link!!

Item location on ebay UK site is still there, but a bit hidden. Just go "advanced" near Search button:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ebayadvsearch/?rt=nc

    and scroll down. :)

I use the .co.uk site with absolutely no problems. Surprised to hear of this! I rarely use the .ie site as the selection isn't as good. I'll certainly use the geo-ship site though!

I am based in Ireland and I can and do use eBay UK, only last week I won an auction on the UK site.

I'm sure if you were an Irish person in the UK, you would not have a problem - the title of this thread makes ebay sound racist

After a lot of messing i eventually found how to do it....

To the Right of the search button at the top of the page is a 'advanced' tab, click it and do the following

    - Scroll down to 'Location'
    - Tick 'From Preferred Location' and select 'Worldwide' from the drop down menu
    - Scroll down to the end of the page and click ' Search'

    Done.....

    Hope it helps.....

Same here, I regularly use the .co.uk site with no issues

Harder than it used to be anyway. :p

Once you know where it is, no problem at all. :)

Ebay have several sites, such as uk, hk, cn,au,de,fr etc .If you sell your items at uk site, you only can search them at uk site. You can not find them at other sites.

Well that's completely incorrect. By that logic ebay.ie should be a complete ghost town.

When I search I can see UK listings on the .ie domain though on the settings to the left, it says eBay Ireland for the location, but it doesn't say Ireland Only. Maybe it tries put Irish listings first.
What I searched for is only available in one shop in Ireland (Galway) but no Irish listings appeared, which is what I would have expected.

Not sure if this helps explain or even confuse things more for you.

It seems that I made a mistake. I followed the method given by PeteK and found that I can search any items from ebay.ie. The items comes from worldwide, not only Ireland.
