Does your club have a monthly strokeplay competition off the back markers and if so, is it only for some months of the year or all year around?

Yea our medal is strokeplay off the back markers.

First one in March. Last one in September.

    Winners get a silver medal.

The winners then play for a gold medal in September/October.

    Won my first this year!

At my club the back markers are very rarely used maybe except for professionals prize. Very disappointing tbh.....Would much prefer if the monthly medal was played off them.

We have 6 medals from April to September, always off the back tees and strokes. Overall winner on the day gets an actual medal and the 6 winners play off later in September for an overall medal winners prize (this is just held within a normal weekend singles comp).

7 medals in the Lakes April to October inclusive, always stroke play and always of the back tips.

All qualifying comps are strokes off the blue markers, monthly medal for each class, gold for overall winner.
Actually 90% of our comps are strokes.

Slow play must be an issue, no? Medals and captain's prize are strokes in my place. Only the odd comp otherwise, and unless you get out early, you're resigned to a long day!

In my place monthly medals are strokes usually off whites (6700 yds), back tees are 7300yds so they maybe get two outings a year, one team scramble and one medal/special strokeplay event.

Our monthly medals run from April to October inclusive and are always off the back tees. Our captains prize is also off the back tees which is strokes. All club competitions like the singles match lay and club fourball are played off the blues. It probably gives the lower handicappers a better chance to win a share of the competions during the year. All our inter club competitions are played off the back tees as well.

No real difference tbh, cat 4 can always choose to play stableford so that probably helps.

Getting off topic but in strokes comps, cat 4 golfers have the option to enter a stableford comp for their class only.
They are then ineligible for the main prizes, though possibly can still win the main prize, I can't honestly remember!

We have about 5 or 6 Monthly Medal Competitions in Athlone played off back tees and stroke. On top of that, we have 4 major competitions which are played off the back tees and are stroke. So we would have 10 strokeplay competitions a year, not including Scratch Cups and that sort of thing, which is more than enough I suppose :)

We have a minimum of 4 per month, from March to October (weather permitting). Given that our course is 7,677 off the backs, we only use the backs 7-8 times per year.

Our club runs 8 medals from March to October, with some off white (stableford, 5990 metres) but most off blue (strokes, 6240 metres).

We observed quite a few people avoiding medals (take more time and harder for higher handicappers to win) - so brought in alternative stableford comps on medal days. Always comes up for discussion at men's AGM with low guys wanting more strokes (and no alternatives) but medium to high guys preferring stableford.

Was lucky enough to win one in 2013 - thought there was going to be an ordinary stableford comp that day but went out and won it anyway with my best score ever (5 over par gross - got cut 4 shots but well worth the trouble). At my age, thought it would never happen - so you never know. "Hope springs eternal in the human breast", I guess!

What course is that, must be one of the longest in the courtry.

We start with a medal on Paddys weekend have 1 a month after that to October plus the 4 major events all played off the White Tees only a couple events off the back tees. White Tees 6800 yards back Tees are just over 7000.

Only joined last year but almost certain no monthly medals and very few stroke play.

A couple of days from the blues (6500m) but stableford.

We did have a scratch cup though iirc

All medals, majors and trophy comps played off the back tees(7000yds) but a number of these events are stableford(too many IMO!)
