You do what you feel you have to.

You most certainly can. There's nothing stopping you being honest about a post.

It is. What I think you are saying is you can't articulate yourself without breaking the rules on being abusive. That's a failing on your part, not on the part of Boards.

And you have called me a liar .......... how articulate of you

Whenever a poster replies to a post saying "I call bull**** on that" or "not true" they have simply lost the argument .......... what they're really saying is "you have just said something that I cannot refute so therefore I'll resort to just saying it's a lie" ......... an idiot's get-out-of-jail card if you will. :)

I think that the fact you had to quote and respond to the same posts twice just to make a childish comment is pretty indicative of the thought you are putting into them. And I doubt you are as close to members of the AGS as you think you are.

    From Boards.ie Rules
Abuse is tantamount to saying "you have beaten me with your argument; I can only resort to name calling".

I doubt you are as close to members of the AGS as you think you are.

I think you calling me a liar is tantamount to name calling ......... therefore you have lost the argument and broken the rules!

So report my posts if you are so upset. I never called you a liar. I thought my post was pretty clear. I don't believe you are as close to members as you think you are. That's not calling you a liar, I'm saying you're in the dark and don't realise it.

Stuff you've said. It's the kind of stuff someone comes out with from listening in on parts of conversations or being told stories from the front. Look, I'n not going to keep responding to you here. If you want to report me for some feigned offence then go ahead. If you want to continue this discussion then you can message me. I don't think it's relevant to the thread anymore.

Care to elaborate or do you concede that you can't articulate you're point of view without resorting to name calling?

Anybody who thinks that the Guards wouldn't harass a civilian for reporting a Guard in the early 90's is ......... naive.

Anybody who thinks the Guards wouldn't cover up for other Guards in even the most serious of crimes in the early 90's is ........ naive.

Anybody who thinks that all of the above doesn't happen regularly even today is .......... a complete f****** idiot!

Anyone thinks that all Gardai are as described and that's ok to tar them all based on a few bad eggs is seriously naive.

You said "the Guards", which if i'm not mistaken gives the impression that you're referring to all Gardaí. "Some" would have been more appropriate if you didn't intend to mean "all" Gardaí.

And anyone can come on here and claim they're "in the know", or have "friends and relatives who are Gardaí". Just like anyone can come in here and claim that every single Garda they know is infallible. Lack of evidence is not evidence. Hearsay is not evidence. If you're privy to information of corruption, then why not do your duty as a citizen and report these matters to GSOC, make a statement and be willing to follow it up and give evidence in court?

Well you know what they say about people who make assumptions ........

Of course we can all come on here and claim anything we want, it's Boards.ie not a court of law.

As to doing my "duty as a citizen" ......... how do you know I haven't?
Maybe I have and found it to be a useless exercise .......... or maybe I haven't because I'm not offended or effected personally by low-level corruption ........ but I am aware that it does happen which was the point I was making.

I don't think its fair to "tar them all!" with the same brush but what happens when the the integrity of the gardai is at stake? Do gardai think twice when it comes to one of their own?

I've come across some wonderful people in my time that are members of the guards and I have come across some proper arrogant egotistical narcissistic folk. But this is true for all walks of life.

I believe this young man will no longer be a guard in the future, headlines are not what they need at the moment.

I didn't even go searching because nothing will make him happy, he must have fallen foul of the law at some stage to be so bitter, there's always a story behind the bitterness!

The story was in the news... did you miss it? The force are routinely incompetent and corrupt.

You're telling me what I was inferring??? How superior of you

Let me be clear for the hard of understanding ......... I mean (and meant) some Guards ........ possibly a lot more Guards in the early 90's than now ........ well hopefully anyway.

When you underfund and under resource you are always going to have shortcomings, the gardai themselves have pointed this out time and time again, the government underfund and then cast blame on the force, by international standards it's one of the best forces in the world and operate largely unarmed, be thankful you should try dealing with other European forces and you wouldn't be long realising it!
