It would be handy to see a hole in one of them.

None around here in areas that I have travelled in the last few days - through Longford, Cavan and Leitrim. Pity as I thought it was a good idea.

I saw a few done in pink in Gort during the week .
Anyone using the clear wrap for bales ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,313 ✭✭✭✭Sam Kade

They look like gay bales, a dairygold man threw a roll if pink in my boot the other day I made him change it to black. I'd chance a couple of pink bales but not a full roll of them. Anyone know if the crows take to them?

Cool to see that there was a demand for it and no heads in the sand about supporting breast cancer.

Have phoned many in many different Counties.. If anyone on here knows a contractor who has some or comes across one message me and I iwll send my phone number and collect it wherever it is :) AND Yes it really is good that it sold so quickly and not sure how much it would have raised or how much was donated but the ublicity is worth far more than any money

What awareness does it raise exactly???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,313 ✭✭✭✭Sam Kade

I was talking to a man today that wrapped 150 bales in pink he said they would almost blind you working with them. He also said that crows won't go near them maybe they have accidentally stumbled across the crow problem.

Well, in short, the colour. The colour pink of synonymous with pink-ribbons etc for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Anyone who buys the bales then are supposed to be encouraged to make a contribution to the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign also :)

    That's my take,

I think it's a few euros donated from the roll of wrap to the cancer thing.

I raised a question with local Dairygold Mgr...why did they keep upping price of these rolls...saw sign initially in branch for 81...bought some week later for 83....last of what bought was 86 & heard last price was 87....think Dg copped onto demand & decided make more money...branch Mgr said H/o directed price....
Funny thing was told only made 1order last year so not as if replacement rolls costing more....

I was buying a chinball harness and a gallon of ink for the bull €230 for both in Dairygold so I went to munster ai instead and got both for €180. Nice profit there for Dairygold and they both buying them for the same price.

..........but a bit strange business management considering DG own a fair bit of munster AI! I've noticed the same with CAHL. You'd think they'd be priced similarly:confused:

I bought tail paint spray in one dairygold store for €9 in another one they were charging €10 for the same stuff. Dairygold might own a certain amount of munster ai but they charge separately as in ai isn't docked from your milk account.

I wrapped 60 bales for a lad yesterday. Seems to be a bit easier to tear than the normal plastic but it worked out well !
