I have an EI flight in Dec that has been brought forward by 1hr 50min. It now means i am going to have to fork out for an overnight hotel & parking, whereas i with the other flight i could have caught the bus (and that is why i booked it, as there was an earlier option when i booked) On the schedule change email i received it says...

Your new itinerary is carefully selected to minimise the level of disruption to your travel plans. If your schedule change is within two hours of your previously confirmed itinerary the normal fare rules apply. If your itinerary has been affected by a change of more than two hours, and does not suit you, please contact our helpdesk to discuss alternatives

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with a refund or rebooking where you are under the 2hrs?

Actually, just checked the EI website and they have made the flight another 5min earlier, making it 1hr 55min now...i'm going to give them a call and see if i can get on the later flight which leaves 1hr 25min after my originally unchanged flight.

Called them and was changed to the later flight no problems, & no fee charged.

Also noticed that the flights are €80 cheaper now than when I bought them in Aug :( Shows what a bit of competition on a route does.

That's unusual for Aer Lingus as usually the cost of their flights go up the closer you get to the departure date.

I know, and thats why i booked them when i did, thinking they would only go up. But ryanair have started on the route (to AMS) so i guess thats why prices have dropped. EI is actually cheaper on my days than FR.

I wondered was it Amsterdam you were referring to in post #3 when I read it yesterday. Those inbound EI fares from Schipol have shown a marked reduction in price since FR began competing on the route. The minimum o/w AMS-DUB fare has held at about €56-€59 for several years, though you'll now bag one for as low as €29.

Nothing like a bit of competition. ;)

That used to be the case, but it has changed in the last year or so.i booked a flight in may travelling to frankfurt in december but if i had of waited until july to book,it was something like €50 euro cheaper.this has happened to me the last 2 years running but its a chance you take.
